I really like the overall shape of this beast. Great modeling and details.

soft! i like it as well
what render solutions does sketchup include actually? just curious

It just has normal texture mapping with direct shading (if that's the right way to describe it as I have no real clue about rendering..) It can give nice results, but all is far from real looking, all looks artificial, which can be cool if you just want to give an overview.
But there are many free (e.g. Kerkythea, Indigo (reduced version)...) and to be paid for (vray, indigo full version,..) plugins/extension for SU on the market. Done this one with the beta version of Shaderlight. It's okay, but I still haven't found one program that convinced me.

ah i see! thanks for the insight. i would have imagined having an anbient occlusion render.. but you cant have everything i guess

No problem, although don't take everything for granted as I'm really not into rendering...

This is pretty awesome!
It's a different way of appreciating all the beautiful details in your work.
Looks very plausible.

With dirt, scratches, other retouching + badass background, would be seriously awesome.
Of course, clean view like this is also good, to really appreciate the design.

Thanks, yeah, was actually the first render I did from/with(?) it. Tried another program back than. Like it, but as you said it is a bit to clean, so I went for the darker Kerkythea pic. But right now I think I like that one even more.
Would love to do such a thing, but no time for it...

Thanks! Used shaderlight, don't know if it's still free as I got the beta version...
