Great scene, there is a lot of mechaΒ΄s designs but this appears to be old school mecha .
Very nice job.

For some reason those look model sized to me (like they're inside a room instead of an industrial plant). Must be because of perspective. Regardless, this is really awesome.

hmmm, maybe if the viewer shows a bit more up to the ceiling...
Thanks!

Yeah, maybe that would do the trick. Also I thought maybe you could show a tiny bit of the plataform or the robot the viewer is standing on top of. What do you think?

I should say, the lightning is kinda off, because it looks like it's daytime and lightning should be a daylight, or direct light from windows, it looks strange that shadows look in different directions. Apart that, it looks damn good. ^^ Detail level is awesome.

First thanks!
Actually there is only one light source and that's the sun. COmes through the windows and the (not visible) door.

I think, maybe (somehow) you should make the walls match the level of detail of your mechs. The tiling texture seems almost noticeably lo-res in this.

flaketom In reply to E-Squid [2010-10-13 22:35:07 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm, does it? It is(should be) corrugated sheet. But maybe I can add some details, like piping or cables. Hope this doesn't make the file too big,as it already is near the limits, my computer can handle.

Wow, you're encountering a file size limit? D:

When it comes to rendering, yes! DAmn computer or stupid me is the question...

I think the line up with 28 and 55 looks good, though 101 being another color... I duno maybe there is a reason but my opinion (worth $0 USD) is that the scene might benefit from more lighting contrast. These things are gray, the wall is gray, the ground is gray if you know what I mean. Unless 101 is the color they all will end up... in that case I would still darken the background and add subtle highlights to the mechs. Just my opinion, worth less than bits of string.

Nah mate, always happy about some constructive feedback, so your opinion is important.
Gonna give the colorchange of 101 a see if I can add some contrast somehow. Thanks again.

Looking very good, Tom! Much less wasted space, and better balance IMO.
I feel bad for Herr Panther who's being hidden... (even tho we discussed putting him back there).

Hmm... maybe it doesn't need #28 and #55? Just one or the other may do the job, and then the composition can get even tighter.
Then again, not having a duplicate vehicle maybe kills the line up scene so NEVER MIND! ( just as one single type of Tie fighter in a star wars image wouldn't do either).
Acting as bad as my clients.

Something about this vehicle design works very well. Maybe it's the simplicity of the shape + the typical angular German styling + all the added details. It just nails the right vibe.

Thanks, yeah feel the same about Herren Panther, maybe I should move him forwards abit, although this wouldn't change too much about it. But then he is just a prop and it's not really about him.
Same about removing one of the two front mechas, think it would destroy the line up thing...
Like the design also quite much, funny how it ended this way from a stupid doodle in the train...
Looking forward to post your edit of it with different weapon options.

The train did us a big favor there. Maybe I should start taking the train to places?
I'm glad you stuck with it, and had the patience to rework it into something great.

Yes, go and use public transport. Nothing better than these...
Nah no praise to me, without your edits and crits it wouldn't have gotten anything. It would have gone straight to endless pit of my sketchup folder.

Of course, I don't have a laptop anymore, but I always love daydreaming on the train...
Which I never ride anymore either. Prefer to burn high-octane gas in my turbo crossover like a good American!
Actually, it's amazing how so much of the US (outside the city) is built so that you NEED a car to go anywhere...
All a part of the post-WWII transformation that changed everything (but that's another story).

-You had plenty of good ideas on your own, BTW. I just sharpened them up a bit. Minor corrective surgery, but the underlying structure is sound.

And sorry I been out of touch for a while... So much work!

Like everything happening in the States, we imitate it, just much much later.public transport is getting worse in the countryside all the time. But then Germany is small and not spanning half a continent. Well...
And no need to be sorry at all.
