Wow that's really helpfull, I've been trying out digital fur but not been having much luck hopefully this will give me more idea how to do it

actually yea, just dont try to add the shines, I tried that once on my iPod wolves and it didnt turn out too great.

open canvas is like a less advanced version of photoshop
