Description
.___.This is one of the many moments in Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo that just made me facepalm.
I mean, REALLY? WHY does Raven need to travel on a disc of her own magic? Can't she, y'know, already FLY? I'm pretty sure I didn't hallucinate all five seasons here. >__>
They probably did it solely for Raven to kick Beast Boy off it, because another stupidly written part of this movie is her out-of-character abuse of Beast Boy. :/
Way to toss five season's worth of character development out the window on that one, Cartoon Network.
Egh. There's really nothing good I can say about this movie.
-Terrible animation (I might make another poster regarding this)
-Cliche storyline and scripts (Kiss in the rain? Wow, THAT'S never been done before. And Brushogun? Terrible villain. I missed Slade so much.)
-Unnecessary actions just to fill a cheap joke (as seen above)
-The cementing of a pairing I cannot, for the life of me, stand (YES, I am a huge and undying fan of RobRae. Deal with it. I find RobStar very shallow.)
So, in conclusion?
I hate this movie.

Starfire is anything but shallow, I have no idea how you came to that conclusion
I will say that Robin and Raven love each other, however there is no romantic love between them whatsoever; their relationship is very much like that between a brother and sister.
RobxRae makes no sense in terms of the show, neither of them have shown romantic interest in each other and their interactions are at most like a little sister with her big brother.
Not just saying it, its true whether you like it or not.

okay I see where ur coming from personally I don't really like characters like starfire all happy most of the timeΒ but it doesn't mean I hate her IΒ do thinkΒ she is a good addition to the team. Yes I do agree with you that in the show that robin and raven did have the brother sister relationship but sometimes that can go farther we will never know if it will or not but I like the IDEA that it will. I'm sorry if it offended you that I have a different opinion than you. also not trying to star a battle between us

I'm sorry too, I was being much too blunt. I can understand why Starfire can be annoying and unlikeable (happy all of the time, relentlessly optimistic), however those reasons I must say don't make much sense, seem rather mean, and are can easily be switched to reasoning to love Starfire.
In the end she is a fictional character however so such hate is acceptable, the hate that is intolerable are those who hate their targets for really STUPID reasons... Kinda like the guy who made the poster above us but I digress XD
I must again apologize for any offense given, I am happy you understand my reasoning for opposing RavanxRobin and I respect your opinion. Thank you for your politeness

Trouble in Tokyo was amazing.... when it first aired & we were all young & naΓ―ve It was the first plotline I never saw coming... then I opened my eyes to how overused it really was a couple years later.
Even then, though, I hated the ending. (RobRae fan since '05 & always will be- I will go down with this ship! ) I distinctly remember physically getting up off the couch & turning off the TV, then me & my sis getting in a fight as she tried turning it back on & me trying to keep it off ah the good ol' days..
Trying to rewatch it, though, is like shoving splinters up your fingernails. Painful.
That said, I think it's okay to look at (same animation as always, so what-specifically, made it 'terrible' for you? just wondering). And I actually loved the little 'Static Shock' energy disc that Raven was riding around on. It's the sort of thing I'd always want to do if I had powers then again... I don't have powers...

Hahaha
Of COURSE you won't like the damn film if you're a Raebin shipper.
But I loved it although I did not really like Brushogun as a villain at all. SLADE IS TOO AWESOME
And as SOON as I saw that police chief I just KNEW he was behind everything. Cliche.
But the parts I found epic was the whole 'ROBIN MURDERED A DUDE' thing.
Oh! AND, of course, the RobStar moments. Which you wouldn't find epic.
And... yeah, Raven got pretty much no part in that movie, but we all found her ooc abuse of BB quite hilarious.
Oh, COME on. Did you not find Beast Boy singing and wanting to read comics and chasing japanese girls and getting beaten funny at ALL?

Flaming-Hailstorm In reply to icanhascheezeburger [2012-05-23 02:34:33 +0000 UTC]
The whole THING was cliche, right down to Raven abusing BB. That's an anime cliche. That alone threw out five seasons' worth of character development out the window and just aggravated me.
I honestly can't say there was much of anything I enjoyed in the movie.

Weeeeell... I can't change your opinion.
Do you think she would have normally had more respect for him? Though I was shocked to see her slap him at the end of the film. That was a WTF WHY? moment.
I wish they'd developed SOMEWHAT on those two characters, or at least stuck to their relationships at the end of the series. But yet I still found her 'DON'T TOUCH THAT BUTTON' attitude comical.
So what was your favourite arc, then?
π: 0 β©: 1
Flaming-Hailstorm In reply to icanhascheezeburger [2012-05-29 05:07:18 +0000 UTC]
It was a cheap humor gag. That's really it. Just filler between the RobStar lovefest and Brushogun. I think she wouldn't have been so physically violent. In the show, she corrects him more verbally. The show, she hit him at least twice.
That slap at the end proves that it was just a cheap humor gag that, in my opinion, was not funny at all.
Raven's arc is my favorite, since she's my favorite character and it was the most well-done arc. Terra's would probably be my second favorite and Robin's right after. I'm a sucker for big angst and drama, and Raven's had DEMONIC angst. Honestly, my favorite episode of the entire show was Birthmark. It was edgy and dark and really brought to home just how devastating Raven's prophecy was going to be.
Kinda wish they hadn't ended it so quickly and cleanly but, in the end, it is still a kid's show. xD
π: 0 β©: 1
icanhascheezeburger In reply to Flaming-Hailstorm [2012-05-29 11:14:40 +0000 UTC]
True.
Raven's arc was incredibly dark and deep... and Terra's arc was an emotional rollercoaster... and I think the Apprentice episodes were very dramatic...
Brotherhood of Evil was an overkill though, and Brother Blood arc was just awfully boring. Nobody cares that much for the Titans East crew... though EVERYONE cares for Mas y Menos. ^^
Yeah, Raven's arc had all that drama build up... and it ended too quickly, with EVERYTHING RETURNING TO NORMAL and nobody dead from stone planes crashing out of the sky or anything like that. Too clean in more ways than one.

Flaming-Hailstorm In reply to icanhascheezeburger [2012-05-29 21:01:21 +0000 UTC]
It really was. I paid less attention to the fifth season. Honestly, after fighting someone like Trigon, I don't see how they can take anyone, barring Slade, seriously. I know I can't. And, I highly doubt one group of adults warrants a whole ARMY full of new recruits. It was just not done well.
Yes, I was kinda bored by Cyborg's arc, too. I like Titan's East! I actually DON'T care for Mas Y Menos, as much as I do Aqualad, Speedy and Bumblebee. xD
Seriously. Terra's arc had a better ending because she "died", more or less. There was still a consequence to all of it. Raven's arc was finished too cleanly, but that was because of the target audience. Still, given how dark Birthmark and The Prophecy was, how the ACTUAL apocalypse played out was a little disappointing. It needed more than just three episodes.
π: 0 β©: 1
icanhascheezeburger In reply to Flaming-Hailstorm [2012-05-29 22:03:13 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, it was like, 'Here's your apocalypse! It's not as bad as you thought it would be, is it?'
If we look at the Terror of Trigon arc in the original comics it was far, FAR darker. Raven becoming evil and killing people, breaking apart the wedding of Nightwing and Starfire by KILLING THEIR DAMN PRIEST and then TARGETING Starfire because she has the single 'good' seed containing Raven's soul or some crap like that... and LOTS of people getting killed. LOTS.
Much darker...
though I don't know too much about that since I'm not a comic reader. And anyway I prefer the Cartoon characters in appearence

I agree with the list you came up with. Especially the bit from this respective pic. And the storyline. And the fact that the developers seem to have ruined their character development of the whole series just for the sake of a few cartoon-network-cliche jokes (but, count to think of it, it's a cartoon. If it works on the kids, then it's ok, I guess. Still think it stinks though).

I'm glad you agree.
Yeah, it just overall seemed like a half-ass attempt to bring closure to a show that was cancelled. Personally, they should've just left things as they were. 'Things Change' ended the show with dignity.
They aren't? Thank God. Dx I hated them ever since the pairing was shoved down our throats in 'Sisters'. Starfire herself just irks me because of her blatant Mary-Sueisms. Their relationship has no substance; it's just a typical teenage romance that's destined to end as soon as it started.
Personally, I ship RobRae. xD

Actually, that poster is WRONG. Koriand'r will ALWAYS & FOREVER love Dick Grayson (aka the first-ever Robin and the original Nightwing). Likewise, Garfield recently said that he will always love Raven--and likewise, she for him in most respects--in Florence Henderson's writings for that canon couple. As for BB/Terra, it NEVER existed in the true source canon, because though the changeling was in puppy love, it was all just a RUSE administered by Terra--who was SLEEPING WITH Slade at age 14, right alongside her addiction to the nicotine in cigarettes--in attempts to gain control over everything and everyone, using the Titans' own human weakness for compassion against them. As for Rob/Rae, it especially NEVER existed, because just as she had done for Wally, the only scans supporting Rob/Rae have her MIND-CONTROLLING Dick's thoughts and emotions whilst Koriand'r is in jail for a crime she didn't do. Dick fought Raven's influence though once Koriand'r was set free on bail and Rob/Star resumed its longevity as a on-again-off-again couple.

TherealRNO In reply to Flaming-Hailstorm [2011-07-09 01:00:52 +0000 UTC]
The comics influenced the show. They're basically SYNONYMOUS, EXCEPT for demographical reasons (ex: you will NOT see Terra being a chain-smoking slut in a show MEANT FOR CHILDREN). The fact that Marv Wolfman was writer-consultant for the series is proof enough (as he himself said, "They ARE and yet AREN'T my Titans"). Ditto for the principle story arcs being based on top comic stories (ex: season 2 = Judas Contract; season 4 = Terror of Trigon). Same goes for the secret identities that were alluded to (ex: Dick, Kori, Gar, Rae, Vic, etc.). Likewise, all of the main pairs (Kid Flash/Jinx excepting) were DIRECTLY taken FROM the comics (ex: the "tough love" of BB/Rae would be influenced by Beast Boy's own quote towards Raven from the NTT era, "Your physic whammo is better'n kisses, Rave. I think I'm in love."). Without the comics, the show would NOT exist.

Well, it is FACT that the comics dictated practically everything (the ONLY changes were demographic [for example, you would NOT see Terra as a chain-smoking & sex-with-Slade-having slut on a show MEANT FOR KIDS, although subtext made the relationship still present]), from the stories being used (ex: season 1 = Nightwing vs Deathstroke fued; season 2 = Judas Contract; season 3 = Technis Imperative; season 4 = Terror of Trigon; season 5 = the obligatory origin episode [which the creators for the show initially said they weren't going to have], Beast Boy's coming of age, and an equivalent to Crisis on Infinite Earths; epilouge = Terra II) and the couples therein (Dick/Kori as the "it" couple; Victor/Sarah as the sole long-lasting the big man bachelor will ever have; the "puppy love" RUSE of Garfield/Tara; the tension-filled "tough love" of Garfield/Raven, etc.). The fact that Marv Wolfman was writer-consultant for the series based upon his comic era would be proof enough. In other words, if there was an expansion of the show that was based on the Geoff Johns era comics, BB/Rae WOULD BE couple canon, since they've been such for EIGHT YEARS (from 2003 to present day)!

Also, the trip to Tokyo aired at a time where the comics already had bypassed the Marv Wolfman era--with BB/Rae as the lead pairing serving as proof to further this point, since Raven was written almost motherly towards the changeling before they became romantic lovers--and as such, Static Shock DID actually BECOME a Titan in the comics. So a reference to him wouldn't be far-fetched to see in a Titans film, even if it involved the series characters that were based on the Marv Wolfman time period.
