Description
Flamingo1986 (Zachary Rich) presents the parts breakdown & puppet guide for Pinkie Pie!EDIT: (09-25-11) The finished animation can be found here: [link]
►You can download a Pinkie Pie Puppet .FLA here: [link]
Howdy everypony!
ALL of those parts are nested within the two rigs to the right. They are set so that there are master symbols of each category, and when set to "single frame" in the looping option under properties - typing in any of the numbers listed below each part will make it appear. I'll be posting a video tutorial on how to use these two rigs after I've finished animating with them myself. So stay tuned for that! ^^
You can find the previous version of this puppet sheet, as well as the rough animation to my short below:
Also - for some examples of this rig in action - here are some links to my currently completed key poses:
• MLPFiM Original characters created by & Studio B • MLPFiM © Hasbro
• This work is in no way designed to infringe upon the rights of Hasbro and Studio B. It is, completely and utterly, a fan-based concept and intended for free distribution for the promotion of My Little Pony.

Thank you. The eye shapes are quite different from Pinkie Pie's though... I'm not confident enough to fix them just yet...

I'll actually be updating tomorrow with the Twilight Sparkle Puppet Rig, several backgrounds, and an official Double Rainboom website. Sorry for not submitting anything lately (I've been pretty busy with this animation).

Yeah - they took MegaUpload down - I've been working on updating the puppet with new parts, as well as creating a side, front, worm's eye, & bird's eye in addition to the existing 3Q - which is why I haven't reuploaded her. The new puppets will be released here in about 3-4 weeks.

Thanks! There should be a new one of Pinkie Pie, Twilight Sparkle, & Rainbow Dash (each with about 100 added parts) being released in CS4, CS5, and CS5.5 .FLV format here in about four weeks.

Please Please PLEASE keep working on this. This is AMAZING. Here I was thinking I could do a simple little animation for YouTube, and you sir, deserve ALL my respects. I'm waiting on the edge of my seat for you to re-release the .fla file!

Thanks! However, there's a chance that I'll have to halt all pony production - read my journal to learn more: [link]

That's really cool! So many mane parts... Since Megaupload has been taken down, would you consider putting the Flash Cs5 file up somewhere else?

FlamingoRich In reply to Bunyip-of-Boganup [2012-02-13 02:28:23 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! I worked pretty hard on it. I'm currently working on updating the puppet with about 200 new parts - as well as a Side and Front rig. After all of those are done - I'll reupload the entire package at once.

thank you. i do have one question, how do you animate the hind legs? im haveing a time trying to figure out how to move the legs along with flanks.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
FlamingoRich In reply to Orcbrother [2012-02-02 01:22:19 +0000 UTC]
The hind legs are animated using the sub-selection tool and moving the points around - OR - selecting them and skewing/distorting them with the transformation tool.

Alright thanks. I heard something about useing shape tweens, the biggest problem for me though is makeing them look right and makeing their body bounce up and down accordingly
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
FlamingoRich In reply to Orcbrother [2012-02-02 19:31:53 +0000 UTC]
Don't use shape tweens unless you're doing a slow motion movement and don't feel like in-betweening every single frame. The show rarely uses them and they never seem to look right.

Orcbrother In reply to FlamingoRich [2012-02-02 20:52:31 +0000 UTC]
huh... so you just transform for each frame as you need?

i was afraid of as much, but I guess I should have learned from last episode that if you want something to look right you cant take shortcuts...
pity...

FlamingoRich In reply to Orcbrother [2012-02-02 23:37:02 +0000 UTC]
Well that's just life in general - if you want something to be awesome you've got to spend the necessary amount of time to make it awesome. Taking shortcuts (while sometimes cost-effective) are usually a bad move.
