FreeBird: A character I've been working on for some time... A Black-Jewish-Lesbian-American, she represents freedom and the fight for that right.

She's a child of mixed race hippies with a slight militant edge, raised partly by her devoutly Jewish grandmother, and is proud of her heritage, her country, and her sexuality. And hopes to turn a world full of judgement and fear into one of peace, pride, and faith. Even if she has to kick a lot of ass to do it.

Ironically her suit is based on many symbols of oppression expropriated for her mission. Wrist and ankle cuffs representative of slavery in all its forms (which she can attach chains to in conflict mode). She fights with a police style baton, often the weapon of choice for law enforcement as a non lethal abuse of power. The corset for the suffrage movement. The leg armor is a bit of a nod to Joan of Arc. And of course: the spartan-esque helmet symbolizing not only the ancient societies of which our democracy was founded, but also as an enduring icon of what it took to preserve it.
