Description
This musical painting was from an idea given to me by Awash 2002-thanks for the help! Mama gypsy is teaching her little daughter to dance while Papa plays his violin. The title is inspired by a Russian-gypsy folk song of the same name. I own a 76 year old copy of this record-here is an even older version on YouTube www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHv_rN…Related content

You are really good, Foxy. You could reduce these to line art and they would make excellent coloring bases.

I love the mood and the feel of this piece, and how all of the characters are interacting! Really beautiful colors too!

Oh yes. Very beautiful.
Absolutely love your work with light on the details, especially on the bracelets (are those metallic watercolours?) but also on the strings. The crescent moon necklace is a really nice touch. There is not just a clear sense of movement either, but the characters seem extremely light on their paws, almost weightless in motion - so essentially feline.
Only the fire is a bit troublesome. It does not seem to be casting any coloured light, nor does it stretch the shadows - and it seems a little too close to the cart for comfort! But nevertheless, troublesome as it might be it completes the composition, and something surely be just as amiss without it.
This is a wonderful work, and while it is obviously a fair bit romanticized, I am very glad to see it at a time as this. The atmosphere is not as warm in Sweden as it once was, and once more the demons on the fringes are turning blaming eyes on the travelling peoples.
It warms my heart to see someone remember how history and culture, even if rose-tinted, are greater than ourselves.

I absolutely love this picture although in the back of my mind I can't quite untangle it for the story about "The Cats of Ulthar"

It is a bit of a creepy tale but the moral of the story is always be nice to kids and kitties.

Getting on the wrong side of a cat anywhere is something done strictly at one's own risk.
Lovecraft knew it well - and Howard knew it even better. It is no wonder that Howard's essay on - or some might say in thinly veiled celebration of - all things feline is titled "The Beast from the abyss".

This picture you've done of such a family of gypsies dancing together looks very nice and sweet, my friend.

It's a lovely picture! I can almost feel the vibes from the fiddle
