Description This is only the rough engine of my soon (hopfully) coming game. It will later feature multiple weapons, an opponent that does stuff, damage, power, etc.

I know some thing are rough as this is just a preliminary engine, but it is coming.
If you have any expertise or knowledge of how to do something better than what is on this, please let me know as i want this to be as good as possible.

Features:
-Dynamic Terrain
-Move left/right with arrow keys
-Aim up/down with arrow keys or click tank
-Fire cannonball with spacebar

two bugs i've found....
1) the way you action scripted it (with it checking for the ytransparent pixles and what not) makes it so when your in a dead end of a tunnel, and you go up the wall, it teleports you to the NEXT lowest ground.... soo is there a way to like, make it hang on ceilings... or fall down or what....
2) when you dig all the way to the bottom, and when your gun is not vibible, if you shoot, an error comes up sying something about a script error, and cause IE or whatever browser your using to close....

other then that, its very awsome and hope to see a "rad" game come out using this engine

SAT? Its a pixel based hit detection since bezier wouldnt work once the original ground is broken with a bomb.

absolutely my pleasure. people like you are hard to come by. you've got an amazing talent as long as you're writing most of this stuff yourself, and you're a pretty friendly guy. most coders I meet who really have talent are complete douchebags.

I wouldn't be too opposed to working on a project together if you think of something that needs an artist/programmer/musician's touch. just throwing that out there.

just actionscript. I've always kind of been split down the middle between art and science so programming appeals to me, but so does drawing and design.

Hi, well my RPG is an online game much like those of Kings Of Chaos and Dark Throne and others. But mine is better..u will see lol.
It has been in development for about 5 months now and is nearing beta testing. So we will soon open it up for use.

I would love to see urs tho..just sent it to me when u can/want.

yeah, you'll get the zip-file of my rpg when i'll have got an idea of the end of my game...
the only thing, u can do is fight, wlak around and train your chara...so what could i use as an quest...and it shouldn't be tooo big, cuz this progg is now about 23k bytes big!!

Its actually quite simple. There is a function that starts at the bottom checking that the color of the pixel is not transparent. And if it isnt transparent it checks the one above it until it finds a transparent one which means the top of the ground. As for where it checks it 3 places. 1 is the x value of the tank movie clip for its height then 2 points at the sides of the tank and then finds the slope and rotates the tank to fit. The method isnt perfected and there is a little more to it because it encounters problems if i have the laser weapon which makes a line of transparent pixels. That makes a glitch and i have a few fixed but not perfected yet. Hopefully it will be and im sure there is a better way to do this. If you have any ideas...let me know. Hopefully that helps.

Hmmm well you see, i suppose you are using gravity that pulls down only if hittest(i presume thats what your using ?) returns a false, when i do this in a few games i have the problem of it sinking through the ground slightly sometimes, how have you avoided this?

Haha yea. I found a lot after i submitted it and i fixed all of them basically. Just waiting to get a suubstancially new version before i submit another version of this engine.

Yeah i noticed that along with a few problems with positioning the tank.
This is just a rough beginning but it will slowly be refined to a good, working engine.
