Description
This is a stamp explaining why I don't have a tablet nor would I bother using one. Also, there's plenty of paper you can use in case you encounter tablet problems, although most of you guys know it already. The wood background seems to match the topic. The base belongs to along with all other pieces of artwork made by him/her.

It's a plus when it becomes digital, assuming you have a scanner.

Traditional FTW
I, however, don't have anything against digital artists, so knock yourselves out.

I use both, digital for dA and traditional for personal stuff.
Digital Pros:
-Easier to get the color you want right away
-Ctrl+Z
-Backlighting, for drawing in the dark. Woo!
-Blend and blur tools
-A lot of precision
-Very fine details easier to make with zoom options
-Depending on the program, different brushes and straight line options
-Constant improvement to software
-3D Digital art is becoming a thing!Ā
-You can copy/paste/blend Donald Trump's face onto a potato. Alright, that one may have been just a joke.
Digital Cons:
-Not there during a power out
-Easier to Manipulate and redistribute (which is why copyright can be used for good)
-Good art programs are kinda hard to find for cheap (Firealpaca and Gimp are good, though)
-Eye straining unless you have a special screen (Like a kindle fire's screen)
-Progress needs to be saved
-Lag is an issue too, sometimes.
-Files can get lost
Traditional Pros:
-Stays the same throughout the years
-Pencil shading is a bit easier than digital shading, I gotta be honest.
-Sometimes pencil colors are better on paper than they are on screen
-Very relaxing
-Doesn't overstimulate the mind like a computer screen can
-More portable (usually)
-No lag. Ever. Unless there's a glitch in the matrix.
Traditional Cons:
-That squeaky noise when the lead on the pencil gets flat and it rubs against the paper
-It smears
-That other squeaky noise when the ERASER gets flat (on the end of a paper) and metal scrapes against the paper.
-It rips
-Water damage (that's kinda the same for the computer to, but...)
-Expensive art supplies are expensive and need to be replenished more often than tablet pen nibs.
-Your hand can hurt if you press too hard on the paper.

I use both, actually. Likewise, sometimes I just don't have any paper lying around the house to use.
Although a truly good artist can draw with anything... Be it paper and pencil, tablet, charcoal, crayons, a digital finger-painting system, or even chalk on a sidewalk and a spray paint can... They have no limitations.

Yup.
Funny thing is though, in my animation class, I wind up using a lot of paper to make cells! But I haven't quite mastered my tablet yet, due to how the tablet I have doesn't show (on the tablet itself) what I'm drawing on the screen... So things are sort of wonky... But for shading and coloring, it's great.
Unfortunately, doing line art digitally from the hand drawn sketches I make is time-consuming. I like all the effects and things I can do with digital art, but I don't get the whole ability to really go in a mess around with it as I do with the traditional forms... So yeah, I like to have some overlap.

and tablets can brake. when a pencil's tip snaps off, you can sharpen it. you can't sharpen a tablet.

If my tablet crashes (which it does a lot), I'm away from the PC or I'm watching a DVD on my PC I like to take out my sketchbook and just draw in there. Too lazy to upload most of it though

buying paper, markers, fineliners ex. is much more expensive than buying a digital art program and a tablet.
with traditional art you have to keep buying and buying. going out to a store and buying stuff every week or two got annoying and expensive.
sure if you like doing traditional art over digital then so be it.
digital is much cheaper and easier, you dont even need much of a work space.

I can think of one non-art-related reason: Signing forms. I use my tablet for the times when I feel like doing digital work, but having a tablet really came in handy when I had to fill out a lot of school forms because my printer ran of ink and I couldn't afford to buy more. (Not that I advocate buying a tablet just to sign paperwork.)

Every medium and tools for it has its kicks and its set backs.
Tools at hand can create such great distinctive art, yes, but a massive drawback of traditional like tools is that they will always diminish, some rather quickly, and so you constantly have to replenish and replace them. Not all have the funds to trade for or the access to the traditional tools they would like to use and advantageously work with due to their location and/or environment. A tablet is a good solid option for contending these problems but it is not the only option.
A variety is best to use and not only visual art too. (;

Then you obviously don't know any other ways to upload things -.-
1) Camera. I use a 6 year old Vivitar for this.
2) Every phone except for flip-phones have cameras. Most people have a phone. You can get an app that uploads the photo to Sta.sh after you take it.

Then there's the people, like me for example, who can't afford a tablet. I need it but I can't afford it so I have to deal with paper and pencil. Then I have to do the lineart over that and color it.

Whilst I admire the hard work gone into alot of mouse drawings, I would have to argue that for me, I have to use one because it is an essential for professional digital work. Or at least, the industry I'm going to (animation. Try chucking out billions of quality frames of animation per week with a mouse, kinda sucks haha. A tablet is a must have in the professional animation industry). Unless you're doing 3D animation, then a tablet isn't needed so much, a mouse is great for that.
As for paper drawings, it's a matter of preference really. I LOVE both paper AND tablet drawing, I get such a different connection to my art with each one (neither bad). There's no reason to dislike something because you use something else, ya just gotta appreciate the great works that come out of both sides

Hah yeah xD I love digital because you have infinite amount of colours available to you and they never run out, and you can easily correct mistakes, but I love traditional because it's so unique, and there will only ever be one of that exact thing... and you can actually hold it, which is cool Printing out isn't really the same.
