in the pre-release promo artwork i was using as reference - they looked grayish with a reflective finish. so i decided to add a bit of color to them - kind of reflecting the flames.

thanks. i actually used a photo of multicam fabric. it'd be a real pain in the ass to create it myself.

HAhaha! I know exactly what you mean.
Some months ago I decided to create some PhotoShop brushes in order to make it relatively easy to create Multicam. Little did I know that it was a lot harder than expected. I mean, I can identify three colors that are easy as they're simply classic marks that resemble german Flecktarn (White, Black and some Greyish Beige), the green and brown gradients camo and how they interact with each other.... that's a lot more complicated.
In the end I could come up with the brushes but it's usage is not as simple as I would have liked it to. 
I got no idea how hard it'd be to come up with such patterns in Flash.
Anyway this is an awesome work.

when i looked at it closely i realized that most of the "blobs" in it are gradients not solid colors. it was then that i decided on using a pic.

Sandman does look like it has too many flags on it. One in the chest, another one in the arm, perhaps two in the helmet on both sides. And I think that will remain unchange upon release of the game.
Any more flags and Sandman might as well start wearing Captain America's combat suit.
