hey this helped a lot thanks
also i think you should make a colouring tutorial.
So ed finally gets to be coloured, and so people (aka me) know how to colour stuff

No problem! Glad it helped!

I'll definitely consider. A lot of people seem to like my coloring, so maybe I'll give it a shot.

Wow, these are nice tips but... I've never used photoshop... *fails*

Does this work for any other programs, just wondering?

Hmmmm...I'm not sure. It depends, I guess. What program do you normally use?

I like to use gimp, I could see this guide possibly working for it, however, the only thing I think I could have a problem with is the quality.

FLASOK In reply to TakaEdakumi [2012-01-22 23:07:32 +0000 UTC]

Well if quality is a problem, maybe it's your canvas size. I usually work with a 600 by 600 px or a 1000 by 700 px canvas.

Hey I've been using photoshop, and I'm having some serious issues. No matter what I do I can't get rid of that pixely effect it has when I draw. Is there a way to fix this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FLASOK In reply to CorgiStump [2012-01-06 22:15:21 +0000 UTC]

Hmmmm....

Well, one problem could be your canvas size. When you start a new picture, how large do you make the canvas/image/background/whatever you want to call it? xDDDD

I usually make my pictures on a 600 by 600 pixel canvas.

Another thing could be the type of brush you're using. I usually draw lineart with a round, hard, size 3 brush.

CorgiStump In reply to FLASOK [2012-01-07 16:49:59 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it's probably the canvas size. Mine is usually 400 by 300 so that may be the problem. Thank you for your help!

Zomg! I'll probably use this as a tip when I start using Photoshop again. xD (Or SAI, my sister says it's better *shrug*) I probably need to learn how to use a tablet as well. Either way, I'm sure this will come into use at some point.

Awesome! Glad I could be of help.

Zapper133 In reply to FLASOK [2011-11-03 00:25:49 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. :3 Today I learned that I do in fact need more patience to wield a tablet... Maybe sometime soon I will learn how to draw with one but I don't really know. XD;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FLASOK In reply to Zapper133 [2011-11-03 00:30:47 +0000 UTC]

LOL It definitely takes patience. Unfortunately, I lack patience, so I'm still working on that. xDDDDD

And don't worry about being good at it right now. I've had my tablet for a few years and I use it nearly every day, so I know it takes some getting used to for sure, but once you're comfortable with it, it's worth all the practice and hard work. For now, just try to get used to drawing with it. Maybe sometime in the future you'll end up like me and prefer drawing digitally over drawing on paper! xDDDDDD

Zapper133 In reply to FLASOK [2011-11-05 01:38:54 +0000 UTC]

xD I do prefer digital to paper, really, I just find the line tool in mspaint quite easy to work with XD But yes, I will try to master this tablet...if my sister lets me use hers. XD

FLASOK In reply to Zapper133 [2011-11-05 17:57:45 +0000 UTC]

LOL I know, right? Plus, it's just easier to see everything I'm drawing in Photoshop. When I draw on paper, I practically have my nose shoved in my sketchbook which sometimes causes me to mess up my proportions since I'm only looking at a small part of what I'm drawing at one time.

Haha! I wish you luck!

Zapper133 In reply to FLASOK [2011-11-07 01:58:39 +0000 UTC]

Y'know, that actually makes sense. The whole look at only one thing in a sketchbook part. I know when my sister draws, she can generally view the whole picture at once. XD And thanks!

I am baffled by how smooth you can get your lines with a tablet. I thought you went through another process to make the lineart. Whenever I do my lineart, the lines are all wobbly and yucky. Either you are a lineart prodigy, or I have an UBER long way to go XD
...Maybe both!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FLASOK In reply to PoppyCorn99 [2011-10-30 22:30:19 +0000 UTC]

You're too kind! Trust me, I'm no lineart prodigy. xDDDDDD;;;

Getting smooth lines mostly depends on what kind of brush, and what size brush you use. Then there's the skill aspect of it, which is the whole 'breaking down the picture and drawing your lines in single, smooth strokes' part, but that might be just my way of doing it. I'm not really sure if others do theirs that way. Also, you want to draw your lines quickly. Drawing them slowly and carefully could actually cause them to be more wibbly-wobbly. You gotta glide! Glide I tell ya! xDDDDDD

Getting serious though, practice is the big thing. I've had my tablet for a few years now, and I use it nearly every day. My advice if you're unhappy with your lineart? Just do some practice sketches, be patient, and just keep working on it.

PoppyCorn99 In reply to FLASOK [2011-10-30 23:35:28 +0000 UTC]

Actually, what you say about breaking down the picture makes complete sense (I actually feel dumb for not thinking of that myself) I've had my tablet for a little under a year, so I guess with time and practice I'll gradually improve my "gliding" accuracy and get smoother lines XD
Thanks for the tips!

FLASOK In reply to PoppyCorn99 [2011-11-01 00:45:35 +0000 UTC]

Oh good! I was afraid that it wouldn't. xDDDDDD (Aw, don't feel dumb. Everyone has their own ways of doing things! That just happens to be mine. )

Definitely! Tablets are difficult to get the hang of. It takes time, trust me. Been there, done that, STILL doing it. xDDDDDD

No problem! Anytime, seriously.

holy crap man, you didn't have to spend three hours doing this for me! You deserve a hug
But I do apreeciate the tutorial, maybe if I use this my pictures won't turn out like my first attempt ah, but now there is no equivalence!! So I must make you a pretty picture too! (it will probably be with flash though because that's the program I have the most experience with)

FLASOK In reply to CorgiStump [2011-10-29 00:04:14 +0000 UTC]

LOL Really, it's no problem! It didn't feel like three hours when I finished it, but the clock said otherwise. xDDDDDD

Oh good! I'm glad it was helpful.

D'aaawwwww, you don't have to do that. But if you do, I'd love to see it!

CorgiStump In reply to FLASOK [2011-10-29 03:07:14 +0000 UTC]

I must make sure we have equivalence! So I am going to make you a picture and it shall be fantastic!
