Canterjack is one of the near-mythical (and that’s by “goddamn these faeries keep eating my chickens” standards) and very long-lived group of glutton knights known as the Old Soldiers.
It is terribly feared because they are one of the few knights that hunts untainted, non-magical humans. Canterjack is not an opportunistic predator and instead may select targets up to hundreds of miles away, pursuing them with bloodhound-like accuracy and passing over easier meals. It almost always chooses someone who has done something secret, something terrible, and no one knows exactly how it figures these things out. Just that it knows, and it’s coming: stumbling on legs that seem only half-functional but are far too fast, far too jerky, body twisting like it’s got a broken spine that’s just a little too long.
If someone escapes justice for a crime, people curse that Canterjack will find them. And sometimes it does.
