So you use specific words written by another? I am new to this idea.

Yes--this is a form of found poetry, where you take different words and phrases from somebody else's text, but rearrange them to create something new. In the case of a blackout poem--as with this one--you just omit the words on the page you wish not to use, highlighting, in essence, the words/phrases/letters you want to keep to create a new poem from the text.

I did a form of that once and it was wonderfully random and yet somehow worked. I chose an album I liked and chose a number (under 7 works best). Then I took the 7th, or whatever number, lyrics of all the songs and made them into one poem. Some were bizarre but some were quite fascinating.
Thanks for explaining.

Make it a game.
You make the rules.
You win.
How much more fun can there be?

Thanks! It's pretty tough, actually, but it can be rewarding if you can pull out a good combination of words and phrases.

I would love to do one of these, but I don't think I'd have the heart to draw all over a book!

Definitely not getting sick of these poems yet. You're actually beginning to inspire me to try some of my own, if I can find a book that I can bring myself to draw all over.
For a challenging page you certainly did a wonderful job

I think I have some old books lying around somewhere. I might try it with them.
