An isolated town far away from EAF/UCC Forces
4 hours after human contact and sudden intervention

Me and Private Wild Whistle ran with the bipeds as they took twists and turns throughout the town. I didn't know who they were, what they were, but I am thankful for their help. If it weren't for them, we would have turned into those monsters, and Faust knows how horrible that is.

As we ran, the bipeds began to slow down which caused us to slow down. We came to an abrupt stop as one of the bipeds looked around itself, eyeing the surrounding area before turning to me with a hesitant look on its face.

"Are the... what do you call them? Monsters? Are they usually this quiet?" it asked.

I was confused at first, then it dawned on me. For the entire time we've been running, we hadn't seen, nor heard, any of the Corrupted.

"They're Corrupteds, and no, not really. They aren't this quiet. I can usually hear them, but now? I don't know..." I replied.

"Could it be that we killed 'em all or they retreated?" said Wild Whistle.

I shook my head, "No, no... the Corrupted don't just retreat. Besides, we were surrounded by an entire army of them, there's no way they're all dead, even with the biped's help."

The bipeds looked at each other and they seem worried.

"Crap, it's going to be an ambush..." it said.

Before I could ask what's going on, the unmistakable sound of the Corrupted was heard. I looked at my surroundings as one, no... two... buck, there's too many to count! They emerged from the shadows, behind houses, even a bucking bush, and they all surrounded our tiny group.

We all raised our weapons as the Corrupteds inched closer and closer to us. To me, it would seem like they were toying with us. I looked at the biped beside me and it looked back.

"When I say the signal, we open fire and we run and gun it, kapeesh?"

"Uh... yeah, I got it." -I began to grow a tad bit anxious- "But, are we gonna make it through?" I asked.

"Don't worry, we'll make it through, you have my word." it assured.

I nodded in response before I turned back to the ugly buckers in front of me. Run and gun? That sounds simple enough. As I waited for the biped's signal, memories of my past began to rush through my head. My home, my friends, my family, my squad, my dog... I couldn't let them down, not now nor ever.

If I fall here, I'll fail them.

If I fall here, I'll fail myself.

I'll...

I'll be sure to take as many as these buckers down with me...

With newfound determination, I narrowed my eyes at the Corrupted in front of me. They took the lives of innocents, and these monsters will die, no matter the cost...
