I was instantly struck by the size difference in the characters. Sakaki-san seems *HUGE* compared to Kaorin-chan(!).
Then I went to Youtube and re-watched the closing credits.
Oh gosh - the difference is there as well, but sort-of disguised.
I put it into a simple GIF - and you can see it for yourself. The animators *shrink* Kaorin after she becomes embarrassed. Shrink her to child-sized.Β

Based on the cover of the first manga, Sakaki is like half a foot taller than even Yomi.
I guess there's a reason why she was put on the boys side of the dance
