Description
After defeating his uncle and throwing him into the fire, Simba discovers that Scar is still alive, but is now at the mercy of his former henchmen, who have betrayed him, just as he had betrayed him, his father, and the entire pride. The red maned lion stuck to his promise to not kill Scar and become the monster his uncle was, but that doesn't mean he didn't deserve death after everything he had done. Letting Scar be destroyed by his own minions was a fate worse than murder. Simba remained on the firey summit, scoffing at Scar's pleas for mercy. All he felt was justice. He had finally defeated Scar, and now the psychopath he once called "uncle "was paying the price. As the fire raged upon his father's killers, Simba knew that Mufasa was finally avenged.

"Not so funny when you're a king fit for a meal, isn't it asshole?" Simba spat quietly, knowing that Scar wouldn't hear him as his eyes and ears were probably being torn out and burned in shreds.

Once the laughter of the sadistic hyenas was extinguished, Simba felt the flames begin to surround him. He knew he had to find a way out of there or else he'd go down just like his uncle and the hyenas.

"Goodnight Sweet Prince," Simba coldly spoke as he walked off to safety. Scar was no more.

I've wanted to do an edit similar to this before, but I was too lazy lmfao. Basically, this is what I imagine Scar's death from Simba's POV would be. I don't necessarily think he'd at all feel guilty, or even remorseful. When Simba found out Scar killed Mufasa, he put him in a choke-hold, and later threatened to kill him when he trapped him on Pride Rock, only to change his mind. Fuck, Simba even wanted to kick Scar's ass after seeing him harass his mother. And even after Simba decides to give Scar mercy for everything, Scar still ends up attacking him and he is forced to throw him over the cliff in self-defense mode. I think that moment would make Simba want Scar dead, but not want to directly kill him, since Scar is a danger to everyone. Plus, we see Simba looking down to see the hyenas devouring Scar alive. Sure, we see him look, but we don't see his reaction, so it's possible he was like "Fuck you Scar," or something else.

I also headcannon that Simba believes Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed to be dead in the fire, even though in reality they escaped to the Elephant Graveyard, which is why Simba continued to watch, since to him, them killing Scar would keep them from escaping the fire and would get them killed to, thus eliminating Mufasa's murderers.

And I know it's debatable as to whether or not Simba is aware of how the hyenas helped Scar kill Mufasa, but I think that in the moment where Simba found out that Scar killed Mufasa, he put all the pieces of the puzzle together: Of how Scar lured him into a hyena ambush, of how the hyenas ran after Simba conviniently after Scar told him to run, and how they were defending him, so it would be a natural conclusion to believe that they played some role in his death.

And here's a fun fact: In the novelization of the 2019 remake, it's stated that Simba notices Kamari and Azizi overhear Scar betray them, and begins to sympathize with them, then after Simba tossed Scar off the cliff, he sees the hyenas confront him, and walks off, leaving the hyenas to his mercy, and this was just a cool idea, that it would actually work in the original film, considering the sequel [naturally] has Simba being a Scar critic, and TLG for some reason always portrays Simba being the one who killed Scar by throwing him into the fire.
