It's her again! Finaly finished this piece, gah. also why the hay can't I settle on a watermark style XDDDThe first time I drew this girl was here:
I'd say I've improved quite a bit since then. that was also one of my earliest manga studio drawings.
i actually referenced Drider pictures for the legs this time since I didn't really have any idea what I was doing and I felt like an approach not based on solid reference wasn't good enough. I do still love the old pic though but i do like how I fixed her legs lol.
Lighting and shading wise I really wanted to go for something painted. it ended up begin a little darker than initially intended but I love how i did do it. The atmosphere just seemed to really come together. Still a little iffy on some parts of her upper side; Hands are always a pain, also I couldn't seem to get her eyes to not look weird. I think I initially wanted to copy the shape her eyes had in the first pic but I felt it would need to change a little based on her expression and they just ended up not looking as nice lol. but oh well, it's passable. and I spent a while working on her clothing too cus I wanted it to look really fancy. In Kyrinos, my fantasy world, driders are meant to be amazing seamstresses with the most beautiful clothing creations in the world.
yeah I know the first pic wasn't really supposed to be set on Kyrinos but oh well xD shush... *covers plot holes with a rug* there all fixed.
anywho, been working on this for months now cus I just couldn't get the lighting right so i'm glad to finally be done. I'm so happy with how she looks too. I really wanted to expand on the scene I'd put across with the first pic where she was just transformed and had this new body to get used to and wanted to show how she was adapting to it. I do wanna do more pictures like this just of characters and creatures in Kyrinos just to expand lore lol. not that I've done any of the serious work like frigging naming the continents or sorting out any of the world stuff other than the races and stuff xD

hmm well in the original idea that spawned this she was initially very bubbly annd high spirited, very happy and friendly and always complimented others to make them feel good about themselves. she was a bit silyl and fun loving.
she would probably mellow out a little while after becomeing a drider but most of her personality would remain unchanged.

Um I dunno. well as a drider she has amplified night vision. see how crystally her irises are? inside all that dark area?
From her persoective everything in the daytime seems all shimmery and sparkly, and out of the light things seem crisp and clear.
She can walk on any surface and elevation, including upside down, and can spin and shoot silk webs.
and of course she can weave her silk into clothes as is the practice driders. but of course that is a skill not an ability.
not sure if driders in my universe would have any kind of venom effects. probably not.

the initial thing was a half-asleep daydream I had one night about a group of peeps going up to investigate some disappearances in a forest above a small village. they found a strange bunker with some kind of gas coming out of it, and find out it had been turning people into centaurs in the forest and then afraid of being seen they had been running away.
Anyway they go into the bunker (or at least the only guy in the group does first with a cloth to his mouth to try and disable the gas but he still turns into a centaur, then the others follow without transforming) and they find out it's only the front of a whole series of tunnels where each section has gas vented into it that have different effects. they travel through it to try and find out what it's coming from and basically each person gets transformed in a different section, and they end up finding a lounge in the middle with a bar, completely empty but looked like it was maybe meant to be for people transformed by whatever the gas was.
The older girl is first (well ,second) to be transformed as they go through one room and starts turning snake-like but they get out before she gets any more than fangs and a forked tongue. then in a room with a thin walkway over a pool of water, a brunette girl gets transformed when she jumps into the water to get to the switch for the door at the bottom, and grows a tail and turns into a mermaid xD then another girl gets locked in the next room as the door closes before she could get through it, and she turns into a harpy.
All the while, Saphir is encouraging them while they're feeling depressed by telling them how beautiful they look.
They are outside on the side of a mountain now and head up some stairs and can see a big facility hidden up on top, and they head into some kind of mid level with pipes leading down between the maze and the facility up top. the grating his a little flimsy so the centaur dude (and the mermaid he was carrying) have to stay at the entrance while the others walked around. the girl who was only partially transformed falls through a grating and lands down in the facility again coincidentally in the room with the lamia gas and she finishes turning into a beautiful lamia.. and then all of them (once she climbs back up again) later fall through the gratings and end up falling through pipes into random rooms.
there are a bunch of other sections with different creatures but Saphir ends up in an empty chamber with no gas in it. she sees a spider symbol and gets a little freaked out and she tries to open the airlocks with the computer but something goes wrong and it starts venting the gas and she panics but it's too late and she transforms
that's where this pic comes in;
and she's all depressed when the others find her but they encourage her by telling her how beautiful her body looks. her hair is now a bright blue instead of a more dulled blue, her eyes are like gleaming sapphires, her skin pure and white and her rump is fluffy with the most elegant of patterns.
Eventually she does start feeling better and when she gets outside she sees how bright and shimmery everything looks.
well that's just about it for where the idea of her came from X3

well it's a bit of a contradiction there in my head. cus in the initial idea that I just explained would only make sense in the real world.
Oh, and just remembered I forgot to mention that facility thing above them on the mountain was a research facility where they were tcapturing people and experimenting with transforming them and the excess gas from the transformation chambers is what vents down into the tunnels.
Anyway, back on point. with this particular image and with the whole lore I've given her as a Drider is based around my fantasy world Kyrinos. Driders are one of the 14 main races that live there.

it comes from caterpillars when they create a cocoon of silk around themselves while they metamorphose into butterflies.
