You have just come into my life
And it is life that seemed to take you,
When you were still and lifeless
I did not know what to do,

I cradled you in my arms
In an attempt to have you again,
Hoping it would be enough to bring you back
So I would not suffer this pain,

Your small body I held
For several hours on end,
Thinking the love for you I possessed
Was enough for your life to mend,

I settled you down to rest
For all hope seemed lost,
It was then that I realised, how much
A taken life does cost,

I wept for you deeply
As I knew what was to come,
You were to be replaced the day after next
With someone whose mind was numb,

I have bonded with you closely
My soul as one with yours,
I did not know what went wrong
For your death, what was the cause?

I placed you gently under my light
So I could see you closely,
I could not believe you were truly gone
And I could not give up hopelessly,

To my most joyful surprise
Life had returned to your soul,
I could live hopefully again
Death had not taken its toll,

You thrive off the light now
It is your only way to live,
So as much light as you ever need
I will selflessly give,

I can not lose you again
Not after what had happened before,
You are my closest friend
