Description
What once was fullOf green trees and life,
Has been savagly replaced
By a fiery strife,
The ghost gums of the bush
Have been burnt to live no more,
Telling the horrific tale
Of what had happened before,
The trees although dead
Still reach to the sky,
With their burnt and damaged limbs
It still seems they try,
To see the damage caused
It must have been hard,
But maybe life will some day return
To this silver graveyard.

When did you write this? It sounds like something about the Victorian Bushfires way back. It's very good in any case...

When we went on grade 10 camp.
We passed an area with ghost gums that had been through a fire.
I wrote it when I got home with the image still in my head ^^

Cool. I just remember going to Dart Mouth after the fires about a decade ago, and this poem just reminded me of what the trees were like... although they were actually charcoal-black...

Bush fires really make a place bare and eerie.

Yeah, they do. They end up being so desolate... It's nice when they start getting life back in them again.

It looks more beautiful to have new life in an area that has had life ripped from it than new life in an area already bursting with life.

Yeah. It's like confirmation that good can eventually come from bad.
