Description You don't understand,
The pain I'm in,
You understand nothing,
Underneath my skin,

Why do you shout?
Why don't you see?
Why don't you realise
I'm not really me,

My eyes hide my pain,
From your innocent sight,
You don't know you hurt me,
When you start a fight,

I mean nothing to you,
I've no place in this world,
I understand now,
From the words that you've hurled,

I see the hate in your eyes,
The disgust in your voice,
It almost seems like
I've only one choice,

I cry away from your sight
So you see not my tears,
You never realise,
My deep down fears,

I give myself pain,
I do not need you,
I do not need help,
After all I've been through,

I've been through enough,
Why can't you see?
Your careless words
Are painful to me,

You don't understand,
A word can cost a life,
Although I suppose, my life missing,
Would cause you no strife,

I belong not here,
Among the living souls,
I belong somewhere else,
Among the burning coals,

To go away from this life,
Into an eternal sleep,
I can be assured,
That no one would weep,

Hidden behind my mask,
Is my own selfish soul,
Your words, in my heart,
Leave a wide open hole,

I need this mask,
So no one will see,
The trembling mess,
That makes up me,

No one will know,
No one will see,
No one will realise,
I'm not really me.

I find it well done, as well. I can feel a sort of connection to this piece seeing who it's dedicated to. My own mother and I haven't been on exactly equal terms as well, either.

I agree with that. You'd think that, after living with them for a decade or so, some kind of connection would be built. Then you come back from school and find that that drawing you were working on for three weeks was thrown away because it was cluttering up space. Ouch!

Yes. Yes, they can. They once caused me to crash my laptop. Had to replace all of my old files and re-download Windows in the end. orz

I use poetry as my release.
I tend to put emotion into poems because that is how I get them out of my system.
