Description My first pair of bellbottoms
This pair of jeans was chosen because they were already in need of repair (hence the patch on the left knee)

Do you have a picture? I'd love to see them.
Thanks again for all the kind words, sweetie

You know, sadly, I don't think I do, or I if I do, they're on good old fashioned photopaper and good luck finding those in with all the others, but if I ever do track them down, I'll let you know

Good luck finding those, indeed. I have my own piles of need-to-be-organized so I know the feeling.

i so want a pair of pants like these. love your choice of fabric and they look professionally done. the patch on the knee adds character rather than looking like a fix.

Thanks hun!
Every time I hear someone say "I want..." when referring to something I made makes me want to make it for them. I love making stuff for people if I know they're going to like it, lol. I already promised Bryce a scarf that I probably won't get to for a couple years. If you want a pair of pants like these (and don't want to make them yourself) it might take even longer than that... depends on when I get my own sewing machine =/

if you think you could teach me to make pants like that i'd be glad to try... but this is definitely something that grabs my attention.

I'd love to!
They're not too hard at all. Just measure how high and how wide you want the triangular inserts, cut the material a bit larger than that, rip out the sideseam in the jeans, and sew in the insert (folding up the bottom cuff on the jeans and material last).

Love them, want them

Make them!
Really, they weren't too difficult to make (unless you don't have access to a sewing machine... that could make it a bit harder on the hands)

Thank you, though, and thanks for the fav

No machine, but that's never stoped me before. I'm just rather clueless about pants.

Aww.. I'm sure with a bit of practice, you'd get the hang of it. For bellbottoms, it's really just ripping out the seam as high as you want and sewing in an insert. Good luck if you do experiment with them!

I've decided that these really emphasize you're terribly cute elf feet.

Fine. Terribly Cute Elf Feet

I still don't understand if we're talking about Santa's little midgets, LotR-style elves, Harry Potter house-elves...

Lol i've no idea either but it's just one of those things that I say hmm that looks distinctly elfish

distinctly elfish, yet can't be described? lol

I never thought much about elf feet but I always though elf ears would be kinda cool.. not the huge kind, or anything, just a little bit pointy

Thos r so cool! Where did you get the fabric for it? And was it just cutting the jeans and sewing the fabric in?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

flutterbyfae In reply to IceGoddess [2005-11-09 05:36:45 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

I got the fabric at WalMart or some similar place. Cheap, yet lovely. I do wish I had a better close-up of it, though.

And 'twas just sewing the fabric in (if you try this, though, just don't forget about the cuff at the bottom). Instead of cutting the jeans, I ripped the leg seams, then sewed the fabric to the jeans along where those seams were. It's just a bit less messy than cutting jeans (minimal fraying). The patch, however, was stuck on top of the hole with fusible webbing to strengthen it and prevent more rippage (then the edges were sewn just because I wanted to).

Thanx again
