"Oh, woe is me," Rarity cried out as the group was returning to Ponyville from Canterlot. "I met him, the colt I've been working my whole life up to meet; he turned out to be such a pig!" Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes at all of the drama. Sure, she didn't get the quality time with the Wonderbolts like she had hoped either but she wasn't whining about it. "I'll never meet anypony that will be good enough to marry me!" Rarity stopped crying and suddenly wore an insane look on her face, "I'll live alone, forever, just me and Opal. Sweetie Belle will find her special talent and naturally, she will find a wonderful colt to treat her well and she'll leave me alone in my dress shop. I'll just stitch and sow forever." It appeared as if she twitched slightly, her mane started to come out, frizzled in many places. Spike smiled, this was his chance to finally make a move on Rarity. Spike would just have to be a gentleman and Rarity would be like a marshmallow in his hands. Twilight Sparkle glared at Spike, knowing that he'd only make things worse, and nudged him to the back of the carriage. Twilight put her hoof over rarity's shoulder,

"No Rarity, I bet you'll find someone better than Blueblood. You'll find somepony who is perfect and I'm sure you'll live happily ever after. After all Rarity, you are definitely the most beautiful pony in all of Equestria." Twilight said with a matter of fact attitude, earning a simple nod from her friend.

"You are right Twilight Sparkle!" She yelled with sudden determination and strength, but then fell back to her slump without saying a word. They had all had a night full of unexpected disappointments, and all any of them could do now is go home and wake up to a new day tomorrow.

The carriage slowly stopped in Twilight's front yard. Everypony was exhausted, and Rarity had not moved from her depressed hunched position. Twilight got out of the carriage and thought of a wonderful idea, "Hey Rarity, how about we go to the spa tomorrow and relax, it will be fun and you can get your mind off of—well…" Rarity looked up and smiled softly at her.

"That sounds nice Twilight Sparkle." Twilight returned the favor with a large smile and headed inside of her door. Her horn started to glow and a book floated off a shelf to a desk where Twilight had sat down and opened it. It was a pink filly book that was entitled 'The Perfect Guide to the Perfect Day at the Spa.' Twilight lit a few candles so she could read in a better light. Spike had already gone to sleep; he walked up the stairs without saying a word after getting home, he was a baby dragon after all. Twilight had gone to the spa several times before but she would feel better if she read the book over again, to be sure that she was doing everything perfectly.

The next morning Twilight woke up bright and early. She magically picked up some notes she had taken last night on how to have a perfect day at the spa. "First and most importantly, I have to remember to relax. Alright, second…" She trailed off talking to herself. After finishing the list, Twilight walked towards the door, when Spike appeared behind her.

"Twilight, where are you going so early?" Spike rubbed his eyes as he tiredly asked the question.

"Oh Spike, don't you remember me making plans yesterday with Rarity? We are going to go to the spa; I have to take her mind off Blue Blood," she said the last two syllables with a bit of audible disdain.

"Rarrriiitty, hey Twilight can I come? Can I, Can I?" Spike begged with wide eyes.

"No Spike, Rarity and I are going to have a girl's day. I read a book all about it last night, plus you'd just be hitting on her the entire time, I read in a book that is very counter-productive when recovering from a broken heart." Twilight pushed Spike back and she walked out the door. As Twilight headed out her door and toward Rarity's dress shop, Celestia's sun was rising on the eastern horizon of Ponyville. She had left a little early because she had planned to meet Rarity right as soon as possible. After a short while of walking she reached Rarity's home. Twilight looked at the sun and did a few calculations to figure out the time. She realized she was perfectly on time and beamed knowing that planning and timing were her specialties, and that she simply lived up to her own expectations. Twilight knocked on Rarity's door and waited patiently for a response. Noises were heard inside of the shop; crashing, mumbling, and noises of that sort. Rarity finally answered the door, and it looked as if she hadn't gotten a moment of sleep. Her beautiful mane stuck out in many places, she was wearing her robe, and the make-up she did have on had ran down her face. Twilight flinched when she saw Rarity. Rarity sighed,

"I know I must look absolutely awful. I am so sorry that you have to see me this way." She looked at the ground sadly. Twilight put on an empathetic face and tilted her head.

"Rarity, you shouldn't worry about this so much, your friends care about you and hate having to see you this way. Cheer up, now c'mon, lets go to the spa!" Twilight stood on her back legs and kicked with her front in excitement. Rarity smiled slightly.

"I suppose you are right." Rarity tried to put a smile on, "I will try my hardest to enjoy myself today, if not for me it is for my friends." Rarity stomped one hoof and stuck her nose into the air.

"There we go Rarity!" Twilight beamed. Rarity lived near the spa so the two unicorns did not have to walk very far. As they walked into the front door of the spa Rarity had a very unsure look on her face. A few spa workers rushed up to them and practically yelled,

"Welcome, how can we help you two fine fillies!" One of the workers cringed after looking at Rarity for a crossing glance. Twilight simply smiled to the worker.

"We would like two all day specials please"Twilight said, the worker nodded her head.

"Of course, right this way!" She led the two unicorns into a room with two bath tubs in the center. She turned the water on and poured a pink liquid into the bath. It created a very pink bubble bath. The two laid into the bath and sighed simultaneously. Workers rushed in and quickly applied a green face mask and cucumbers slices over their eyes. There were a few moments of awkward silence, finally becoming unbearable to Twilight who at last asked; "So Rarity, are you feeling any better yet?" She smiled awkwardly.

"Well," rarity said with an unsure tone, "I do feel a tad bit better. It really means a lot to me that you'd go this far just to help me feel better, Twilight."

"Of course Rarity, you are one of my closest friends; I'd never want you to feel bad. Now c'mon we have plenty of relaxing to do." She fell deeper in her tub. Rarity smiled, pulled the cucumbers off of her eyes are looked over at Twilight, who was smiling calmly and appeared to be trying way too hard to relax. Rarity laid back in her tub, admiring the effort that such a pony would put in for her even though all she had done was whine and cry.

They moved from treatment to treatment. Rarity's expression slowly getting lighter as her appearance became more and more fabulous, her heart becoming warm and warmer towards Twilight Sparkle. After hours in the spa the sky had become dark. The two unicorns laughed as they walked out of the spa building. Twilight's plan had worked, maybe a little too well. When Twilight looked at Rarity, an unfamiliar warmth had started to form in her chest. "Well Twilight Sparkle it has been a fantastic day with you and I absolutely must get home to feed Opal, and get my beauty rest." Rarity smiled and turned away from Twilight, and as she walked away the smile turned into a frown.

"May I walk you home Rarity?" Twilight jogged over to her and smiled shyly. Rarity's pupils dilated and she sounded excited as she replied in her usual proper manner.

"Are you sure? It is a little out of your way." Such an act of courtesy, Rarity had to make sure it was sincere.

"It isn't too far," Twilight Sparkle looked at the ground shyly and maintained her smile. Rarity's smile grew, and the two unicorns happily walked. They talked about how wonderful their day was, and how Rarity had completely gotten over Prince whatshisname, Jerkblood, was it? At last they reached Rarity's home and they parted ways.

Rarity shut her door and gasped; she was finally alone and could let out her emotions. She happily paced around her home talking out loud to Opal. "Oh Opal I had the most wonderful day today. Twilight is such a kind-hearted pony. I realized today that I have been all wrong my entire life; most colts are incredibly rude and real gentlecolts are scarce nowadays, but Twilight Sparkle is so kind. She treats me how a lady is supposed to be treated." She nodded to herself. "I never thought I would I would be one of those fillies who loved other fillies but what does that matter...?" Rarity stopped and picked up Opal with a sudden jolt. A terrified look replaced the loving look in her eyes. "W-what if she doesn't return my affection? Oh Opal what do I do?" Opal meowed and jumped out of Rarity's hooves. Rarity's face regained confidence, "no she must, I will do everything in my power to show her my feelings."

Twilight's smile was bright and beautiful as she trotted home after walking Rarity home. She thought about the wonderful warm feeling that had enveloped her heart and what it meant, pondering it the entire walk home. She went over several possibilities, was she sick, did she just feel wonderful from a day at the spa, or was it something else? Rarity's gorgeous face appeared in Twilight's mind and the warmth grew. She stopped in the middle of the road. Her pupils had become small. Was this what Spike was talking about, could it be? Twilight's calm walk home had become a full sprint. Once she got to the door she opened it as fast as she could, not caring to shut it. Spike walked down the stairs while rubbing eyes. "Jeez Twilight why are you in such a hurry?" He shut the door and looked over to Twilight hoping to get an answer.

"Not now Spike I'm busy looking for a certain book. Oh, here it is." The book flew off of the shelves as Twilight Sparkle's horn started to glow. The book landed the table on the other side of the room. Spike looked over at the book and scratched his head. The book was entitled 'The complete Guide to Emotions.'

"Hey Twilight what's with the weird book?" Twilight's eyes had determination and focus in them, she ignored Spike's question and started to flip through the book. She stopped on a page with a giant 'LOVE' written on top, the word was encased in a pink heart. "Love, who are you in love with?" Spike step back and gasped, "Twilight! Did you meet a colt while you were out today?"

"Not exactly Spike."

"Oh, then are you researching something for somepony else?"

"No, that's also incorrect." Twilight giggled, "Keep trying and you might get it."

"Awe c'mon Twilight just tell me. Is it a secret? I can keep a secret just tell me please!"

"Never mind Spike just go back to sleep. I have some research to do. I will tell you in the morning." Spike crossed his arms and pouted as he walked back up the stairs and back into his bed. Twilight's eyes glued to the pages of the love chapter as she absorbed all of the information it would present to her. After about an hour she had finished it. She looked up from the book with dilated pupils, her face in awe. "So it is true, I am in love with Rarity." She paced around the room smiling. "What should be my next course of action?" Determination grasped her face but was suddenly replaced with worry. She stopped pacing and her ears drooped. "What if she doesn't love me back? Rarity was so obsessed with Price Blueblood because he was a gentlecolt. She could never like a filly like me." Twilight looked over at a large book of spells. "I do remember reading about a spell that reveals the emotions of others. I also remember it being extremely difficult and not very straightforward on the results of the spell." Twilight looked at the ground, her determination slowly returned as she used her magic to pull an extremely large plain brown worn book off a table and into the air in front of her. She clenched her teeth and the book opened, the pages flipping until finally stopping around the back cover. Twilight studied the spell for hours.

The next morning Twilight trotted out her door with a serious look. She was a pony on a mission. After memorizing the entire spell Twilight had planned out how she was going to cast the spell on Rarity. There was to be ball in Ponyville in a few weeks and Twilight was going to ask Rarity to make her a new gown. For the spell to work Twilight's horn had to touch Rarity's while casting; Twilight blushed just thinking about it. She had never done such a thing with anypony before. For unicorns, touching horns was nearly the equivalent of kissing. It had to be an accident; even if Rarity did feel the same way about Twilight it was going to be an incredibly awkward moment. Twilight did not know what would happen once the spell was cast. She stopped at her friend's door and gulped, reluctantly knocking on the door. The door quickly opened and Rarity stood in the doorway, beaming. "Twilight! What brings you to my little boutique?" Rarity made sure her posture was perfect. Twilight looked to the side and blushed slightly.

"I was wondering if I could ask you to make a dress for me. The Ponyville ball is coming up and I'd like something nice to wear."

"Of course I can, Twilight Sparkle!" Rarity was ecstatic, "such fabulous fillies like us always like to look our best. You absolutely must come inside." Rarity walked into the shop and beckoned Twilight in. As Twilight entered the shop she looked around inside for something to 'accidently' trip on. Rarity stopped in front of an assortment of dresses and turned to Twilight.

"Is there anything specific you'd like," Rarity asked. Twilight blushed, this was her chance. She quickly walked over and purposely tripped on a roll of material. She uttered an obviously fake scream as she fell into Rarity. Their horns touched and Twilight's started to glow. A spark appeared and the two ponies were blasted onto two sides of the room. Twilight felt warmth enter into her chest. Magical sparks filled the room. Neither Twilight or Rarity were injured, they both simply stared at each other with an extreme shade of red that completely dominated both of their faces. Twilight smiled, the spell had worked and it looked as if Twilight Sparkle had gotten her answer. She stood up and walked over to Rarity slowly. Rarity was still confused and shocked started to regain herself. She got up and started to walk towards Twilight Sparkle. They stood before each other. They were both confident but at the same time blushing. Twilight finally broke the silence,

"Rarity I have something to admit. I didn't come here just to ask you to make a dress for me." She paused and looked away, Rarity's face now full of wonder and hope, her mouth slightly opened in awe and anticipation. "Rarity, would you like to go to the ball with me?" Twilight backed up into a small defensive stance with her rear in the air. Rarity continued to blush,

"Oh, Twilight Sparkle… I-I" Rarity stopped and walked closer to Twilight, who stood back up into a normal pose. Rarity nuzzled Twilight calmly, causing Twilight's muscle's locked up at first, though she slowly relaxed until she started to return the nuzzle. "Of course I will go to the ball with you Ms. Sparkle."

"Rarity…"

"Yes?" Twilight broke away from the nuzzle and placed her own forehead onto Rarity's, their horns touched and glowed lightly. Warmth could be felt in both the ponies hearts.

A small figure was invisible and looking in from a window. It was Spike who was smiling yet coping with a pain in his heart. He wiped a tear away from his eyes and spoke out loud to himself, "So that's who you meant Twilight. As long as you are happy so am I. Oh Rarity I will miss you but it is for the best." Spike smirked and ran off towards Sweet Apple Acres with a new pony on his mind.

Rarity walked into the shop and beckoned Twilight in. As Twilight entered the shop she looked around inside for something to 'accidently' trip on. Rarity stopped in front of an assortment of dresses and turned to Twilight.

"Is there anything specific you'd like," Rarity asked. Twilight blushed, this was her chance. She quickly walked over and purposely tripped on a roll of material. She uttered an obviously fake scream as she fell into Rarity. Their horns touched and Twilight's started to glow. A spark appeared and the two ponies were blasted onto two sides of the room. Twilight felt warmth enter into her chest. Magical sparks filled the room. Neither Twilight or Rarity were injured, they both simply stared at each other with an extreme shade of red that completely dominated both of their faces. Twilight smiled, the spell had worked and it looked as if Twilight Sparkle had gotten her answer. She stood up and walked over to Rarity slowly. Rarity was still confused and shocked started to regain herself. She got up and started to walk towards Twilight Sparkle. They stood before each other. They were both confident but at the same time blushing. Twilight finally broke the silence,

"Rarity I have something to admit. I didn't come here just to ask you to make a dress for me." She paused and looked away, Rarity's face now full of wonder and hope, her mouth slightly opened in awe and anticipation. "Rarity, would you like to go to the ball with me?" Twilight backed up into a small defensive stance with her rear in the air. Rarity continued to blush,

"Oh, Twilight Sparkle… I-I" Rarity stopped and walked closer to Twilight, who stood back up into a normal pose. Rarity nuzzled Twilight calmly, causing Twilight's muscle's locked up at first, though she slowly relaxed until she started to return the nuzzle. "Of course I will go to the ball with you Ms. Sparkle."

"Rarity…"

"Yes?" Twilight broke away from the nuzzle and placed her own forehead onto Rarity's, their horns touched and glowed lightly. Warmth could be felt in both the ponies hearts.

A small figure was invisible and looking in from a window. It was Spike who was smiling yet coping with a pain in his heart. He wiped a tear away from his eyes and spoke out loud to himself, "So that's who you meant Twilight. As long as you are happy so am I. Oh Rarity I will miss you but it is for the best." Spike smirked and ran off towards Sweet Apple Acres with a new pony on his mind.
