Description This is based off the beautiful song 丁香花 (Lilac), originally written by Tang Lei. I like Liu Fang's cover: [link]

I just really like how this song talks about the fragility of life (eg. by comparing it to a delicate flower, as if a life could just be blown away by the breeze like petals... SO GOOD). And I mean, it has beautiful imagery, which I'm always a sucker for.

Oh wow, this is just gorgeous. The colours are so soft, and it all has such a traditional feel to it. And in combination with the song, it becomes a really powerfull image that gives rather a large amount of food for thought.

I can't believe your art often gets so few comments! It's just beautiful!
this has such a nostalgic, old-art feel, and yet there's a vibrant, modern vibe to it, especially in the girl's face!

I never actually told you how much I like this! I love being bilingual (even if barely so) because the different nuances and turns of phrase in different languages are fascinating. There's a lot of philosophical reflections in Chinese metaphors, and I like how you portrayed this one. The colours are lovely as always, I like that lilac and blue against the pink blossoms, and I love the painterly quality of your lines.

(sorry I'm just starting to catch up with comments and people on here etc.! I've been woefully preoccupied and inactive for too long already.)

Aw, thank you for taking the time to comment on this! And yes, I definitely love Chinese expression too, I wish I was better at the language so that I could understand them more XD
Don't worry about that at all! I'd much rather receive a late comment than none at all - especially when they're as helpful and encouraging as yours. It was really a pleasant surprise to see all these new comments from you in my message center tonight <333

Mmf, especially with ancient Chinese, it's so economical and perfect with its phrasing but totally not the way anybody would speak today, I have a really hard time understanding it even with the characters I recognize. I do want to read classics like Journey to the West in Chinese though just for the hell of it. And English too because translations are interesting. xD I need to brush up, having nobody to really speak it to here is making me really rusty.
Yay I'm glad! I'm definitely trying to comment more and reconnect with all my friends here. I'm glad it's not weird if I go leave feedback on stuff you put up months ago. xD
