Overall

Impact

Well my first impression here is "wow!". I personally find it an impressive moment captured in time, and perhaps there needs to be a certain amount of patience and luck involved in a piece like this.

The next thing that strikes me is the limited colour scheme and almost silhouette like style of the image. I think that the overall muted yellow is ok, but not the most vibrant or effective colour scheme that could be expected in a shot like this and in particular, the top left corner shows a little bit of clashing grey blue that does not fit with the otherwise warm tones. You could edit this out but perhaps the best thing I can think here is how to plan future shots of this type, to include colours that work well together on purpose, such as searing reds and purples mixing together dramatically.

Having said that, this piece itself could be enhanced with some basic editing techniques such as adjusting the lighting via the image - adjustments - highlights and shadows option in photoshop (that is my main program so if you use others i cannot be so specific). You need to find away to address the over exposure of the white cloud area in the upper center of the sky, as it burns at the edges. A general addition of colour and contrast can be done in photoshop with a duplicate of the original on top with the soft light layer blend mode (adjusting the amount of opacity to give a gentle effect).

The thing really works best of all here is the composition and action of the subject. Continue to look for rare moments such as these and always look for ways to enhance the dramatic atmosphere you've created.

You caught an awesome moment

I really like the waves and seeing the different foam and splatters. It's not easy to catch.

The thing is with your photo is it seems to be lacking some depth and there is a lot of contrast in the picture, that could most likely be fixed with some minor edits.

Another part of the picture, although I am not sure if it could be helped or not is the colorization. I don't think this piece was made quite dynamic enough with what you have. The waves are all well and good, but in nature shots especially when you have the sky that takes up about 2/3rds of your picture you need to think about how you're going to showcase it. It would have been better if you could capture it at a lower angle and the water's action be the dominant part of the photo.

Also the sky seems a tad bit too bright and instead of being pulled into the waves, my eye is pulled into the sky.

I think this has the makings of a great shot, but not used and edited to the best that it could be.

I hope that helps
