My main comment is to the hand. It looks like it's going through the cat. 0_o
And the way she holds it it looks like the cats about to fall backwards. her arms also look too skinny for her body. the arms and body seem a little too short for proportions.
But the shading, tones and mood are all very beautiful.

Painting without lines sounds difficult - I am always tempted to use too much of an outline when drawing - but you've done really well, especially as you consider this to be a practise piece. I really like this.

It's really difficult not to use lines when you begin using them. For me it's been a bit like riding a bike and taking off the training wheels, lol.
