Ah kudos to you for thinking it's a biblical account without me saying so I was wondering if anyone would pick up on it or not...So you win a cookie and a gold star!
It's from the book of Esther, Mordecai refusing to bow to Haman.
This guy is not the king, but a vizer... Maybe he looks too special, but I wanted it to be more interesting to look at...

You can understand my confusion given the amount of times there are people who refuse to bow down in the old testiment. Esther is one of my favourites because of Mordecai, mainly due to the part where he overhears the plot against the king, goes to Esther to warn her husband before getting the reward that the vizer thought he (the vizer) was going to get from the king. Absolutely hilarious.
