Pretty damn cool concept and creature design. *___* I love the fact you need both light and dark magic to power the darn thing, and the metal plating armor of the squid.
that being said, it still doesn't take away the fact that certain connotations already pointed out by previous artists are tainting my view of all your hard work.
It's really really hard not to notice it.

Lol. Facehuggers scare me so much, so I figured it was apt.
Each mechanized creature is actually made from an individual creature. Like, you catch a squid and then modify it. Therefore, if it were to reproduce, it would make normal squid babies. However, those who are doing the modifications very rarely care for their animal soldiers' reproductive abilities, and fertility tends to go out the window post-modification. So no, no metallic babies.
And I guess? The thing is, nothing is actually steam-driven. And body modification isn't exactly a steampunk theme (more like a me-theme), so I'd hesitate to immediately advertise it as Steampunk. Especially since the story concerns developing technology, not that already established.

anyhow.
well, I dunno the precise definition of steampunk, I suppose. I just see primitive robots and automatically think it. but I find the whole concept quite creative. a sort of merging of sci-fi and fantasy, if you will.

Steampunk is actually Victorian. It's kind of "What is Charles Babbage's Difference Engine had worked?" Hence, it has an exact time period.
