Description
This is my character Fooly, he a character in a comic I hope to start soon. He's a summoned puppet to be controled by whoever is his summoner. However there is one way to be able to break away from his summoners will...[EDIT 4-11-2005 : Some aspects listed here will be subjigated to change in the comic. Some things described here will remain, others will be left out. You'll just have to read and wait for mor comics to find which will be incorporated.]
In this picture he is just useing one of his many spell casting skills here which he is trying to create an rift to travel though by createing the portal (circle painted around him), and his destination (the language around him). The large brush he's using is just one of the many artifacts, and weapons he uses. His item and weapon of choice is blades though, all of them.
Fairyly happy with this picture however, I'm not acheiveing the potential that I want to get. My main influence is Ian McConniville at [link] Its his style that I try to capture pretty much.

oh, he's creating a teleportation ring, (says so in the description). This is my idea, though I don't mean for him to be scary, he's more wacky. Many people instantly think he's some sort of monster or villian

Out of all of your pictures I still think this is your best one. how did you make that glow around him and give that ball on the end of the paintbrush that metaly affect. any help you could give me would be awsome. PLEASE!!!! I'm still a newbie to the art world and needall the help I can find.

First off, WOW, thanks for the compliments. I don't know why, but it seems my most favorite pic is the fooly image, as well as my vash the stampede image.
Well anyway to describe how I did EVERYTHING in the pic, would take far too long to do, (someday i'll be posting a tutorial on how I work) but here's a little info on this piece.
1) All coloring I do is with photoshop, I currently use 5.5, but will be upgrading soon. *note if you use photoshop, DO NOT use any version lower than 5.5
2) That "metal look" I gave the tip of the brush was a fairly simple technique I used in photoshop, where I took out the "polygon tool" and created its outline, next I colored it a simple gray since most metals appear this way, then I used the "gradient tool" and setting the color to a much brighter gray, began filling in select areas
3) The glow, you see at the bottom is more photoshop art, where I placed an "overlay" layer over all others, and using a bright yellow, the airbrush tool (set the pressure to 20) and sprayed the area, this gives lights a bright "glow" effect.
thats all for now, if you dont understand this you need to look into a photoshop program, and what it does, cause that's what I primarily work in.

Very very good! It kidna reminds me how much I like demoniac stuff (mainly puppets, jesters and stuff).
Love the coloring as well. The brush-tool mace thingy looks funky.
