Description An illustration project for college where we had to create, draw, and than paint with 'wet media' a new cover to an existing book. While I selected a large range of books and created thumbnails for various covers, this one was selected and finished by my teacher/class. 'How to Be a Pirate' from the Misadventures of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III' aka the 'How to Train Your Dragon' book series. It not included but this image had to keep in mind where the text for the title/author/etc would go, as such the top half does seem a little 'empty'. (perhaps I should upload a version where the text would show)

The piece was a little too bright, and I should push the contrasts in the water a bit more, but really I'm proud of this piece, it took a lotta effort with little time.

A very good composition, very illustrative. The bright colors and whimsical imagery really look like they are from a childrens book. Their is a variety of wavy movements that keep your eye movement around. The only thing I would suggest is that your line work seems to disappear into all of this. Not everywhere but in places it seems that the lines don't stand out against the colors of your images.

Thanks for the insightful critique there. However the line art1 should only be a suggestion within the piece, ultimately this should look more like a painting and less like a drawing some what.
