Aww wonderful! Our royals are much smaller than him, they're only about half his age
I love seeing royals in hats, especially as most are so headshy!

Thank you! Ukki here was my very first snake and I adore him for it.
I've worked with him for a long time-- first by medicating him (got bitten by a mouse before he came to my care, he had been on live mice), which is why I think hes ok with being touched on the head now-- he knows hes still safe, even when being touched there. Then, after he was in good health again, I began working on moving him to F/T. He now takes the F/T without hesitation-- he eats medium sized rats now!

Oh wonderful! I admire your dedication, I can imaging a mouse bite on a delicate hatchling royal is hard to deal with, I don't agree with unnecessary live feeding.
I would love to have such a good feeder! Both of ours were not feeders, one is on large wiener rats whereas our struggling one is on small wieners every so often.

He was roughly 2 years old when I got him. But, no, it wasn't always easy to treat him. For over a year, I did live feeding (Never felt so guilty!!)
They tend to be picky eaters. At 2 years, they should be eating a tad more. So long as they aren't underweight when you take them to the vet, you're good, though.

Ahh I see! All the royals I've encountered have been problem feeders. Hades, our small one was pinkie pressed and syringe fed as a hatchling by some idiot so he never learned how to feed.
Thank you for the watch by the way!

Thats so odd. Assist feeding a couple times is usually enough to get them to take to meals.
And anytime! I love being able to interact with other herp-savvy people.

Exactly what we said! He was a rejected reptile show animal, and was one of the weakest out of the hatchlings, so he isn't even naturally supposed to be here we suppose.
He also sustained an injury to the back of his head before we got him, looks to be from where the dopey woman pinned him and stabbed him with her fingernail, this went untreated for a while before we got him but is slowly mending.
Haha herpers are definitely one I'd the closer communities, nice to meet a fellow member!

Ugh. The ignorance of people is what keeps me doing what I do. Educational Outreach. Recently took in a burmese python with sepsis. I HOPE the poor guy survives, but hes doing horribly. >. <
It certainly is one of the better communities, but then again... it is more like, "Hey, get along or you'll lose your pets" for us, especially lately. Thats the last thing I would want for anyone. lol

Oh the poor dear, he is so beautiful too. I hope to start rescuing more reptiles, but I have to sort out my own first, my bairds rat x corn has an ongoing RI from being kept at a low temp at a shop, by no fault of the owner. Need to buy him some antibiotics.
All this stigma to do with reptile owners is sickening. Millions of dogs get abided, abandoned and cause threats to people, dog owners don't get judged by minorities, why should reptile keepers? >.<

He really is a handsome little saint. When he was having pus drained from an eye (Dr. had to jab a needle into his eye to get a culture and relieve pressure), all he did was hiss. Didn't bite, jerk around... just hissed.
Haha. Thats how a lot of red-tails get up here-- no fault of the keepers, but its hard to keep a red-tail boa from getting RIs in the winter without having to run 2-3 humidifiers in the room. My male boa is doing better since we went from tanks to tubs in the winter, thankfully.
Ugh. I've seen faaar too many "Child mauled by family dog" stories to EVER feel safe with a dog near my son. It happens far too often. Snakes are less aggressive, cleaner, and make far less noise. Perfect pet. lol

Bless his heart, Burmese are so misconceived, not once have I met an aggressive one that has been treated right. I hope he recovers soon, his eyes sound dreadful, I have a small infection in my pinna and I'm suffering enough! Haha.
I'm deathly afraid of dogs, my partner owns three including two hyperactive, smelly, licky patterdale terriers that are always barking and I loathe them, and people say corn snakes are disgusting?! Worst mine do is my hybrid sometimes poops on his own head.

lol Yep! My boyfriend's mom has a yellow lab that is FAR too excitable! As in, when I was pregnant, the thing would knock me down stairs. I'm considerably lucky to have a healthy baby. lol

At least the snakes are like, "Humans? Trees. Kay."

It really does. It was a test hat for my Columbian Red-Tail Boa, at that! Needs to be a bit larger for it to look appropriate on the boa. lol
