Yeah, that's where I was coming from)
Still I maintain that she really enjoys Shepard's attempts at... "speaking romance", and is only making fun of him to hide her own feelings. Because obviously she's too tough for such nonsense and can't show how much it actually flatters her.
(That's how I see it, anyway)

Hehe, actually, I get the feeling that Ashley rather enjoys his cheesy lines and is simply embarrassed to admit it, thinking herself too cool for it
But she certainly appreciates Shepard's efforts, despite continuing to tease him about it.

Oh yes, brilliantly put! That's something else I like to think.
Now that I think of it, in this 'you know how to sweep a girl'-situation Shepard probably was so surprised that Ashley didn't come up with a line that he had to do it himself.

Haha, yeah, I suppose at this point (two years of thinking him dead and then finding him again) she just dropped all pretenses and began openly appreciating everything he offered, no matter how lame.

And Shepard who didn't live through those two years failed to register all the changes and still thought of it as their thing.
So he just had to add that line to tone down the intensity of emotions, because dramatic love declarations were never for them. Until then, at least.

By the end of ME3 they had both become so cheesy, I wanted to turn away sometimes XD

Ah, that's good. You really have been thorough analyzing them.

True.  In London it' almost like they are having a contest who can bring up the most clichéd line. But I like it, particularly when he quotes the charge of the light brigade. I feel those two deserve some rose tinted glasses corny after all they've been through. And I like a little cheesy. My perfect amount.

Since I'm no fan of poetry and play my Shep as rather ignorant of it, it makes me facepalm so hard when he's quoting something. He missed Ashley so much during ME2, he probably made it his goal to memorize as many relevant lines as possible to be closer to her in some way That dork.

I'm not into poetry either. Usually it's over my head. I didn't even know who this Tennyson guy was. But I was curious and after a little research I ended with a youtube video of someone reading the Charge of the Light Brigade. This one I like. I picture Shep quoting it when they go through the Omega 4 relay.

I go with "He enjoys it because she enjoys it", as someone once put it.
