Description

Recorded flight log, No. 165, First Lieutenant Miles Prower of the Acorn Air Force. We were tasked with destroying an enemy manufacturing and shipping hub just on the border of Green Hill. I didn't believe it when I saw it, but the Resource Wars must have turned it into a desert. I've never seen anything like it, except on some of the planets we visited a couple years back, when their planet eggs were stolen... On the way we snapped some recon photos of enemy establishments. I'm not sure, but they looked like massive prisons, which double as munitions factories... I hope we don't get the order to bomb them, but knowing how desperate Command is to win this war now... I wouldn't put it beyond them...

The new Tornado V is handling better than expected. This sortie called for many kinds of payloads, as well as fuel extensions, and she still flies beautifully. I'm happy to report the Tornado Project a success to our friends in the Ministry of Aircraft Design. Mass production for other squadrons should commence soon enough after this successful flight.

I'm getting off topic though... This last mission has turned my mind inside-out. My thoughts are wandering like crazy and I'm having difficulty maintaining a coherent thought process... I have never seen such a spectacle. We dropped our payload, and soon the entire complex was engulfed in flames. We strafed a few of the remaining defenses, and when we regained our altitude half of the sky was just smoke. The wreckage of buildings and vehicles littered the tarmacs, roads, some were even hurled into the river and created pearlescent pools of oil and fuel... I have never seen anything like it. Nothing. Besides that... I participated in this... I did this... My flight, my squadron, removed this entire complex from the face of the planet in a matter of seconds... Now that I'm back home... At the hangar... I still can't get the fire out of my vision. I still smell, and taste the smoke... I tried to sleep but I only choked...

My squadron.... ..... ....okay.... ... I.. Am so tired... We patrol twice a day, intercept enemy aircraft at any siren, and hunt bombers at Command's beck and call.... Sometimes we fly 8 sorties in a single day... It's no wonder they call us "The Crown's Errand-boys..."

Our success rate is unparalleled. Our losses, so far, are zero. None of my aircraft have been lost to enemy fire or malfunction. We're the highest scoring squadron in the history of aviation... You would think they would let us rest. The media treats us like superstars. Command won't. They don't seem to realize that we're all approaching our breaking points. I haven't been the same since Sonic....

The nightmares persist. I should have done something.... Cosmo is still somewhere out there.... Knuckles is leading a resistance in conjunction with the Acorn Army...... For all I know they were all bombed months ago... Maybe even by me...

Why am I here...

I just want it all to... Stop...

I... Need some rest... Not that it will help.

A sneak peek into Tails' arc in my comic idea. It'll be a while before I make any pages, but the idea is there, and getting more flushed out by the day. If you didn't notice already, it's basically just a re-write of Forces, just in a majorly different alternate universe. Lots of storytelling opportunities here, and I'm pretty excited to share them. It's just gonna take a bit of time.
