Description
The Poseidon piece went through quite a few incarnations, some minor and some drastic, over the process of nearly a month. Part of the reason is that the style of a series is usually determined by the first piece, which makes it hard to settle on.What you see here is a collage of the various stages the evolution of the piece. I thought it might be interesting to see, so I tossed them together. One thing you'll note is that the 3d renders are pretty different in the above cut-outs than they are in the final piece. I was just about done when I decided to go back and give the piece more of a three-dimensional feel. The orb you see above almost has an etheral quality to it, which I felt was a bit too whimsical for a god like Poseidon. So instead he got cold, hard metal.
