Description
Crocetin is the yellow chemical in saffron, a very expensive spice coming from the Crocus plant. (Okay, to be absolutely pedantic, it mostly occurs in a glycoside form, called 'crocin', but that would require me to draw four extra hexagons to this already monstrous formula.) The plant has nice, purple or pink flowers - and pink flowers are crocodiles' favourite thing to play with! There's an actual research paper published on whether do crocodiles play, and apparently crocodiles are way more interested in pink flowers than yellow leaves floating in water... but maybe bright pink flowers just don't fall into rivers that often? Either way, crocodiles notice them and are curious about them, and that's adorable enough for me.
