With a normal dreamer, sure. But Maud's a Pie, and why should she be any less abnormal in the dream world than in the real one?
(I really liked "Maud Pie" when it aired, and one reason was that it confirmed my head-canon that the other Pies, in their own quiet country way, were just as weird as Pinkie. I wonder what quirks her other family members have?

I meant, better at dealing with people in their dreams. Since lashing out would be a fairly common reaction in a nightmare, and many times they were probably strong earth ponies.

Maud can be somewhat terrifying. I mean she didn't even hesitate punching and then trying to crush Princess Luna! And she didn't even know if Luna had done anything with Trixie! Perhaps her inhibitions are lower in a dream but still - never get on Mauds bad side (fortunately, that seems relatively easy, so long as you don't try to take Trixie from her).
And I really like that moment of realization after Maud wakes up. Oops indeed.
