Description
Detective Townsend prided herself on keeping a cool head when faced with the unexpected, before and after her brainwashing. Cases had their twists and turns, some scary and some simply frustrating.
But the summons to Chateau Svengali made her feel giddier than she'd ever experienced in years. When she told some of the other Sleepwalkers at the police station, she admitted that she felt like a teenage girl who got tickets to a live show by her favorite band. Though some of her fellow Sleepwalkers felt such a comparison was inadequate, they couldn’t deny her joy with this development and said they hoped she enjoyed her time there.
Brianna suspected she would.
Hypnoman did not relay the summons to her directly, but the orders came from the Chateau itself. It also said that she was to dress well for the occasion.
Fortunately, she had just the clothing in mind for her visit.
And so, early that Saturday morning, she stepped out to the waiting car driven by a Sleepwalker, wearing her best. Her driver smirked as they pulled away from the apartment.
“Now that’s a number that’ll get tongues wagging,” the girl said.
“I don’t do interrogations in this,” Briana told her with a slight laugh.
“Girl, you better start,” the valet replied, her lips curling upward.
The two talked through the twenty minute drive to their master’s HQ. It was the very picture of opulence, just like how she pictured it. The car stopped in front of five Sleepwalkers with security uniforms. Their demeanor told Brianna they had both concealed guns and bulletproof vests.
“Here for a drop off,” the valet told them. The guards waved them through and the car stopped again at the front gate. After opening the door for Brianna and helping her out, she said one last thing.
“You’ll do great.”
With that assurance, Brianna walked up the titled path to the massive doors leading into the entrance foyer.
She didn’t know what would be coming next, but she was honored to be there nonetheless.
