A request originally made by BrigadierDarman , He asked to see Cherno Alpha pitted against the monster walrus from Gorath, Maguma. I thought it would be great if I could add the "Sea Baragon" from on of the Godzilla Manga stories as well. I always wanted to stage a fight in the Arctic region, so this was a ripe opportunity!Related content

I've never seen Gorath unfortunately, so I haven't seen Maguma in action. Ya think he'd be cool to see in a future Goji film?

I tend to agree, North Pole or snow battles are a criminally underused backdrop scenarios to kaiju battles. Might be why I used it in my Anguirus: Death in the Ice 70 page fan fic I wrote over a summer, a few years ago. That was basically a story that came about by wanting to get Maguma, Angurius, and Peguila together. Scientist go to fix a Polar Station, monsters come because they are attracted to the βsecretβ energy waves from the station and only 4 folks make it out alive. And you get a twist in the end on who created the technology and stuff. If you have seen King Kong Escapes you probably can pick up on the hints I was doing thought the story. But Peguila is basically the love child of Rodan and Maguma.
Anyway, enough about my bad little fan projectsβ¦letβs talk about one.
Like a broken record, I really like this. Yep. I shocked you with that statement huh!! Lol! 
Motion blur is utilized almost perfectly here. Your really starting to get the hang of that. Fires look good and very complementary to the piece. And of course Magumaβs broken tusk really sells the battle aspect of this.
All in all, itβs damn good. Man your really proving to be one of the go to kaiju artist out there man. I mean seriously, your portfolio is coming along nicely. I could really see this being a convention art piece honestly.

Actually your scenerio sounds pretty damn cool. That would make for an excellent illustration! I've seen pics of Peguila from an old Markalite magazine I have, so I'm actually familiar with that kaiju (and yes, he does look like a hybrid of Rodan and Maguma).
Again, ecstatic that you like this one. I feel like I get on shakey ground with characters I'm not familiar with (drawing-wise) and so Cherno Alpha (while being a cool walking power plant) was one of those things that intimidated me. It's one thing to draw 70's super robots, because they don't require an over amount of detail, but they are still mechanical. But trying to draw a Yaeger is a detailed task. Now that I've done it, I'm getting more requests for Pacific Rim. WHAT HAVE I DONNNEEE??? LOL
I am super concious about motion blur, because like almost all filters in Photoshop, you have the urge to run wild with them. If this was a J.J. Abrams themed-piece, I'd go ballistic with lens flares. LOL

Well, now that Pacific Rim 2 has been confirmed, there is bound to be more lol.
I actually really liked the Peguila character. I mean...he is not the most fearsome monster out there...but at least he was different. He's a mammal, which is rare. He can fly, again...pretty rare. And he looked like something that could possibly exist. That is if you don't count the "aftereffect" of his freezing cold breath. In the original episode they tried to say that because he froze stuff to absolute zero so quickly...that it would cause the object to become lighter than air and float. Yeah I know...I just say he has a freezing breath.
I actually did an illustration for that story....but that was sort of when my drawing style. was still evolving. I was trying to ink the whole thing....line by painful line, in Photoshop. I was stupid I know. I did not know the greatness of Illustrator. Needless to say I have gotten a bit better.

But I do really like the thing you did. Mashups of characters from different series is always fun. There is an inifident number of combinations that can be made.

Neat work! You don't see much artwork of Cherno Alpha actually using those fuel turbines, so this is a nice change of pace! Kudos!
