I'll presume you're referring to the recent comics featuring TransTech characters since the series was never developed as far as having a story. Even in those the TransTechs aren't necessarily 'good' - merely all one united faction - plenty of them seem to have agendas of their own which are hardly good

very sweet, and extreemly organic looking too.
this reminds me of the more cybertronian looking transformers that i saw Dreamwave Comics playing around with a year or so ago, and the almost fragmented look to a lot of the interlocking plates on his body adds to that overall effect as well.

yeah actually i spend a lot of time in a comic book shop in London called Forbidden Plannet, buying up massive amounts of anime, and i keep seeing japanese toys that feature this 'Scourge' version of Optimus Prime.
apart from the obvious re-paint value, is there any reason behind his existance that i'm unawre of?
a big chunk of Japanese storyline i'm missing perhaps?
now i'm intrigued.

I suspect the original Scourge (G2 Laser OP repainted for RiD/Car Robots) was purely a "Hey - easy money!" character although his background was reasonably original (When he was a protoform Megatron was using a powerful energy beam to scan the tanker for his altmode and Prime jumped in to save the driver which resulted in him being scanned too and influencing Scourge's final appearance). The success of the character has then spawned a mass of fan repaints of every Prime mould and HasTak's love of adding him to all their lines ("Hey wow! TWO characters from the same mould! Double the profits!!!")
