Description
Available as a t-shirt or print: [link]Upon falling in love with harris hawks, who 'stack' upon each other for hunting, I also fell in love with the idea of 'bird stacks' - the idea of just stacking a bunch of birds on top of each other for no apparent reason. I recently found a few other artists who have been doing this, but not in this style, so here is my take on one of my favorite bird familes, 'stack' style.

When first saw your "owl stack", I was hoping there'd be a "crow stack" somewhere in your gallery

This is awesome! Being a bird enthusiast I was grinning when you mentioned the Harris- my favorite raptor. Unfortunately, we don't get them in Colorado. This is an awesome image, though. I may have to get a shirt of it. Lovely corvid stack!

Thank you! Harris hawks are one of my favorite raptors, too - though the lammergeier takes the top spot for me (if you consider vultures with the raptor family!)

I suppose I can consider it a raptor...for now. But those are awesome, I agree!
I love that, because the Harris stack on top of each other, they're the only raptor with "soft feet". I've heard they're the only raptors that actually try to land softly on any perch.
Planning any more stacks?

In working with birds of prey I've been quite impressed how many have 'soft' feet - or at least seem really aware of the weapons they are carrying - like a red tail with the (bad) habit of landing on heads but he's absolutely gentle when he does so. It amazes me, because I watch him use his feet, and really a head should be like any other perch, but he acts differently.
I do plan on doing more stacks - owls will probably be up next. I'm not sure I'll be able to print shirts with the different designs, but I'll at least have prints available.

Now owls would be sweet! It would be cool to see a great horned and burrowing.
It's neat that there's a red tail that does the soft feet too.

I love Euro jays so much, since I'm in the U.S. we don't have any here, but they are such fantastic birds!

Yes, the jays are in the corvid family along with magpies and perhaps most surprisingly nutcrackers.
