Description
...on a cold, snowy winter's night.EDIT x2: Holy cats - I got a DD?!? LOL THANK YOU!!!! I just now saw this!!! I will make sure to get back to everyone ASAP!!
EDIT: Wow I had no idea I would receive such a wonderful response to this! Thank you, all!
Here are a few things about the room: I used sarees from India to drap and create the tent ceiling. You can find vintage/used sarees like this on eBay for excellent prices, and since each one is about 5 or 6 yards of fabric, each one covers a LOT of space!
I am a thrift store junky, and always have my eye out for a good deal. Probably 90% of what you see in this photo was found at thrift stores, or bought on super clearance. Some things I repurpose, paint over, make into things they weren't originally meant to be. That's what gives it the eclectic look. I then mix in my personal artwork (the pillow on the chair is my art), and some precious things I've purchased over the years or bought when I was traveling.
The scale of the room is a bit deceiving. Everything except to chest-of-drawers is meant to be reachable when sitting on the floor. The little table is only about 10 inches high. My desk is made out of long planks of hardwood sitting on top of planters that I filled with books that I wanted to store, and it too can be sat at with just a cushion. The chair I found has very tiny legs so that works perfectly for when I am working for long periods of time.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! Thanks for all your lovely comments!

Is this set up in an attic or is an actual room of your house set up like this? The tent shape makes me think that your studio is set up in the attic unless you have it draped purposefully like that in a normal room of your place. Looks amazing by the way, though I wonder how you keep it so clean when you work so often with paints!

Hi! This is an actual room. The house was built in 1924, and this room is an end room, considered a 'dormer room. So in actuality, the ceiling is exactly the same shape as the draped saris! Made it easy to achieve this effect. The ceiling is very low, too. I think the middle part is only about 7 feet, and the sides swoop down from there.
Keeping it clean is effortless, as the majority of my artwork is all digital! Digital painting, no cleanup.
But trust me, the studio gets cluttered, especially when I have 'found object' art, and other projects going. However, what you can't see in the picture is a long 8 foot bench table (the first half is where my Cinitq/computer is sitting, that houses lots of crafting supplies, and then a long hutch, and two dresser drawers which also house crafting supplies.
Everything has a place.. .that's the key!

oh, and as far as our attic, there is a tiny hobbit door inside the little walk-in closet that is attached to this room. Open that door, and you are in the attic. You can't stand up in it... I think at best it is about 4' tall, but stretches the length of the house. One tiny window, but otherwise pitch black, and jammed with stuff I need to sort out. LOL

This is the most delicious decorating job I've ever seen. I've been scouring the internet for design ideas that feel like gypsy, wanderer, collector, etc...and this is the perfection of everything I've looked for! Absolutely stunning! The DD should be no shock.

Thank you!! When I set out to make the space, I definitely wanted an atmosphere that would draw me in, even if I wasn't 'working'. Now I have a hard time leaving it. lol

This is both comfy and luxurious! Wonderful use of the saris (the textiles are so beautiful). Love your explanation of the scale being deceptive. Ah I wish my studio was like this! Congrats on the DD!

Thank you so much!! If you search on eBay you can find sellers of vintage saris for incredibly good prices! It did not take as much as you might think to do the whole studio!
