Description
As everyone said they'd like some advice on how to print their work, I set one up. This section is all about how to get your work print ready to send to a printer. I made it as brief as I could (yes this is brief), the top bit basically being the summary while the rest goes into more detail about what it means etc. Something I did forget to add to it is that a printer may send you templates to fit your artwork into, that will show where the bleed should be etc though it's best if your artwork is already set up for it.Anyway I hope some of it helps.
I do have some other sections I can do such as advice on pricing and paper type but let me know if you'd like to see those, or if you have any questions you'd like answered.

You know... you're almost like pioneer... a fearless voyager that has made countless trips through sea tempests to bring back some hidden treasure. I salute you

Thank you
I just got taught all of this while at college and uni and I find lots of people kept asking me about printing, so I put it all together so I wouldn't have to keep typing it out

I'm very glad it helped and congrats on getting your first book ready for print!
May I ask which bit was the most useful and if you think I should do another one on a different part of printing?

Thank you! For me the most useful points were the page size and page count (as this was the thing that was confusing me the most, so definitely cleared that up!) Fortunately I've been setting my work up at a4 (the book is going to be a5). The print company I'm using helpfully sent me the templates to get the bleed and layout correct.
Definitely do more if you can spare the time and have some more advice not written in this journal. I for one would be very grateful
On a separate note, do you put a copyright page in your comics and if so, how do you lay it out and what content do you include?

You're most welcome
Ahh I'm glad to hear, the page count bit can be quite confusing until you hear someone explain why and then it all clicks. That's good, scaling it all down is much easier than scaling up I'm glad they did, may I ask which company you are using?
The other ones I was thinking of doing were advice on pricing (the price of your comic will affect how many you can order) and paper and binding types (these affect the price of the printing and the price of the comic.) Would those be helpful?
I've never actually done a copyright page as I've never thought about it before or had much space for one. The only time I have I've just put the copyright sign and then foxhat. Although I did see the same question go up on C.A.T.S on facebook. I don't know if you'll be able to see the post, but lots of people gave their advice and help on what to write for the copyright section: www.facebook.com/groups/461982…
If you can't see it, I can see if I can send a screenshot instead I hope that helps

Hi, I'm using Rich at Comic Printing UK. He's been great at answering all my queries and responds very quickly to any email I send.
I say post the other tutorials, as I'm sure you'll mention something I don't know. For me in particular, I would think the paper types would be of most use.
I tried clicking on the link, but it said the page had expired (it may be because I haven't followed the group?) If you were able to post a screenshot I'd appreciate it
thanks again for for all your help!

Rich is very good, I used him to help print my mum's book
Okay thank you, when I get some time I will do some more. I might have to do pricing first though as there is a method for pricing your comic when you sell it, which you need to understand, to also consider what paper type you will use, along with your own artwork and wallet. XD I'm just a little worried others may get confused, though it does all depend on whether you choose to use the pricing method, afterall you can technically price it however you like... sorry I'm rambling
Ahh okay, here's a screenshot. I can't actually get the link in the last comment to work but these are the responses he got for the question anyway
You're most welcome, if you have any more questions, I'd be happy to help

You're welcome
I mainly use Stuart from Comiccreatives Uk but Rick is always the first name that pops in C.V.A and C.A.T.S whenever someone asks for advice on who to use
Good luck with your book, I hope it all goes well
