The whole ride is based on the animated segments from the film, only this time without the unfortunate tar baby.

I've been to Disney World three times, been meaning to get to Disneyland someday. As for roller coasters, there's an interesting story as to why they and I do not get along...

It all started when I was a wee lad staying at a Daycare over the summer. They had this program where, over the summer, they'd take the older kids out to do something different each day. This would include going to see a movie (my particular favorite being Spider-man 2), the pool (where everyone fought to stay atop the floating lobster), and best of all, Six Flags! I was finally old enough to join along on the Six Flags field trip and I was excited to ride the Scooby-Doo ride where you blast at all the goats. Yet I was still the youngest in the troupe, so I didn't get to pick the rides first. The first ride my group and I went on was called The Joker. Keep in mind, I have no idea who Batman is at this time. So all I see is a canoe attached to a long pole hiding behind the face of a frightening clown, looking down on me and laughing as if he knows something I don't. It wasn't long before I found out, as the laughing intensified as my colleges and I boarded the metal boat, sitting somewhere in the middle. I sat there confused as they strapped on the safety belts and lowered the restrictive harnesses, not sure what was going to happen next. Had I know that the boat would spring to life and begin swinging back and forth, I would've made a quick dive out of the raft! The Joker was a pendulum ride, and the clown prince of crime laughed at my expense as I cried out for my mommy while swinging to and fro. What was surely two minutes felt like six years before I was finally let off to run away and literally kiss the ground. I was so happy to be alive that I didn't realize how it was about to get much worse...

Whilst I was showing my affection to the solid terra-ferma, the older kids were proclaiming how cool the ride was. Given how our chaperone [who might I add was a nice lady] was the mother of a few number of kids [who were certainly not], it was unsurprising when she decided to take a pole and see who all wanted to ride it again. Only when I was the last one to vote did I notice what was happening, and by then I was too late. My pleas to stay away from the ride went unheard, as did my begging to simply stay put and wait for them to get off. Here we were, back on the Joker. Worse still, this time I was sitting on the very last row of the canoe. That mean whenever it went back, all I could do was stare straight DOWN at the ground! Once again I cried for my mother as the Clown Prince of Crime laughed in my face. Had I known who Batman was back then, I would've kicked him below the Batbelt for not coming to save me! Some days you just can't stay off of a ride. When our second ride through was done, my eyes were wet with tears and finally our chaperone showed me some much appreciated mercy! This is when she allowed me to pick the next ride...

Well at the time, I guess the idea of a theme park with more than three rides was a new concept to me. I wasn't into Imagineering and theme park design like I am now, so I just looked around for a ride that was close by. My only three options at the time were carnival-style games, an arcade, and this ride ominously called The Ninja. What separated this ride from everything else around me were these two, giant Ninja statues guarding the front, as if protecting some secret they didn't want the rest of us to know. Naturally, I picked that ride. After waiting in a que that required going up a flight of wooden stairs, we reach the top and enter the ride vehicles. It's here where the attendees lower safety harnesses, and I chuckle considering that's what they did... on the... last... ride...
Before any more objections could be made, the ride fires up.

I didn't know at the time. The question rolled around in my head as the ride vehicle went down the track and came to a lift hill. As the ride vehicle slowly went up towards the heavens, I looked down and realized just how high up I was. The Joker looked like a speck now, though his laughter at my expense was still louder than thunder! And as my ride vehicle went up higher and higher, passing by airplanes and space shuttles and the freak'n moon, I slowly came to the realization that I had made a horrible mistake. Once we finally got to the tip top of the lift, I could only squeak out a silent plea for mercy. AWAY WE WENT! This was my introduction to a roller coaster! Even better, it was an old, WOODEN coaster! So every time we moved or turned or breathed in a different way, it shook violently! Then again, maybe the shaking was a result of my constant screaming for my mom to save me! Tears filled my eyes again because I couldn't close my eyes. Closing them made things worse and I nearly threw up.

Yeah, well, thankfully the rest of the day was thrill-ride free. The only other thrill after that was simply riding a Ferris wheel.

You mean a slow-moving wheel that went high without feeling dangerous? Heck yeah!
Other than that, the only other notable moment of that day was riding the Scooby-Doo ride, which was a water-based attraction where you shoot lasers at Mystery Inc's iconic monsters. For the record, it has since been replaced by a Justice League ride and is super awesome!
For years I wouldn't ride another roller coaster... Until 2018.

Yeah, and I figured if there was a better place to face my fears, it's be the happiest kingdom in America. Heck, I was eating foods there that I normally never eat. For the record, the Paradisio in Downtown Disney has a superb salad and an equally excellent Spinach dip. And don't even get me started on their award-winning burgers.
