No, just etched, but I did get a lot of plate bite which may look like a bit of aquatint...

yeah I thought it was not aquatine then it had to be plate color... that goes away with time if you print it enough... .a bit of burnishing works well too but that is time consuming.
sorry rambling... Im a printmaking major with an etching focus lol
I really like it. very pretty

Composition is nice and dynamic. I might have left some more room to the left side, but actually this crowdy feeling works for the subject. Makes me bit worried of getting stamped.
Your shadowing is superb - I could learn a great deal from you.
Smudgy edges work wonderfully in this work, but in case they are not intentional you can help the edge staying clear by protecting it with varnish during etching. Great way of cleaning the edges is a piece of chalk - run the chalk along the edge after wiping it clean, but be careful not to get chipped chalk or chalk dust on your work - they will appear as white spots.

Thank you!
This was my first etching, therefor I had no experience and was mostly concentrating on keeping my hands from getting burnt, melted or flattened.
I'm in my second printmaking class now so I am beginning to learn the tricks of the trade, but I have not yet heard about your chalk advice. I will be sure to try it soon on one of my next zinc etchings! Thank you!

I learned the chalck thing aswell at school. But we did it with chack powder, and then wiping it off so the plate becomes white at that part. we use it for mistakes.

The implied movement with the stallions/ horses are awesome.

Thank you! It is difficult to see what you are doing when etching, so the sketchiness comes from trying countless times to get the shapes properly formed.
Also, Thank you for the !

I love the impression of power and wild energy confered to the print by both the dramatic contrast in the lines of the work and the B&W effect of the etching itself. The uneven and exagerated muscle mass of the horses displayed reinforce the dynamic effect. Great work!
