Description
Code Geass - Farewell?[Episode- R2 22]
The title for this one is oddly fitting. As well as the scene itself. It's both up in the air. Are these goodbyes really goodbye? Will this really be my last Code Geass 4koma?
Even I don't know the answer to either until the end.
After this week I don't expect to make any more Code Geass 4komas. See my journal entry for more details.
If I'm happy with the end of the series I will make 4komas for the last three episodes. If I don't then they end here.
I'd really like to continue these series of 4komas, but if the series finale irritates me I don't see how I could. That ending would always be on my mind while working on them. If a series end irritates you, do you always want to keep thinking about it week after week after week? I would think not and I would hope everyone wouldn't expect me do be some kind of masochist.
I paid special attention to the angles and the settings in this 4koma. Nearly everything is like it appears in the episode. With the exception of the last panel.
I really wanted to get their position right in compared to the scene of the episode.
The backgrounds are what took the longest here. Funny enough what took a LONG time to get right was the decorative railing on the hand rails of the steps.
You'd be amazed how tricky it can be to draw a kissing scene. You basically have to start out with two circles that slightly over lap. Not too much though or it will look like they have half their head in each others mouths. Even more so when you draw the angle of the lips.
For the attentive you may notice I was trying something different with Kallen's hair. I just wanted it to look softer and have more of a flow to it while in the headband.
[SPOILER WARNING!!]
A recent interview with Kallen's VA was released. She talks about how Kallen was never sure of her own feelings for Lelouch until she kissed him. Before she was never sure if what she felt was just loyalty, but after the kiss she realized that she really likes this guy.
The scene itself never shows that reaction. It would seem odd that the character finally realizes she feels that way and suddenly moves on. I would only expect that the reason they didn't do it there is, because there will be a scene later on.
This gives me some level of hope for a good ending to the series.
It's just that if this series rushes some pairing with a character like Gino in these last three episodes after that scene. I will never forgive this series.
I hope you enjoy. Please be sure to post comments. I look forward to reading comments.

I believe he dressed as Zero because Zero's reputation as "The Hero of the Justice and of the People" was unshakably set in stone and therefore anyone who picked up the mantle would instantly acquire the loyalty and love of the people. If Suzaku had just shown up as himself the peoples' opinion of him may or may not change since they already branded him a traitor. Simply put, it was the most effective way for Lelouch's plan to go the way he wanted. The people needed a savior, someone to guide them, and the icon of Zero was the most familiar and comforting guise to use.

i suppose...but i still dont like it. and wtf was up with Marrion hiding in Anya. that seemed slightly pointless so close to the end.

Yeah, I didn't understand that either. The only thing I can figure about they did that was to show Lelouch growing stronger in will and to show that his motivation for taking down Britannia was no longer just for revenge against his father for letting his mom die but because he genuinely believed that the people of Japan didn't deserve to be oppressed the way they were. I guess he was somewhat of a humanitarian, and that's what makes him so gangster. But yeah, Anya played almost no role cept for housing Marrian. I thought they could have given Cornellia a bigger role. She really didn't do much if you think about it.

Cornellia provided a variable element. she seemed to want to help Britania but not know how, so u werent sure if shed join Lelouche or Schnizel. we kno her choice, but we didnt at the beginning of the end. and i wouldve like to see more out of Lloyd. all we got from him were some mechs and the Avalon, he chouldve been such good comic relif.

I thought Lloyd was pretty interesting. They don't really go into what happened between him and Lakshata nor do they go into what made him toss his emotions away. Is it just me or does almost EVERY scientist in any given anime or cartoon give the same spiel about "doing away with feelings for the sake of research"?

well they did give Llyod the conversaton with...damnit now i cant remember her name. the one with the green ahir, designed the Fleijah warhead, was on the student council. she wand Lloyd talked after the warhead destroyed most of tokyo and he told her that he could do this, could design mechine of war and death, because he didnt have morals, he was born a sociopath. wich i thought wouldve been great to go farther into.

Side note, a chess match between them would be EPIC. My money would be on Lelouch, he's got a more calm and sharper wit. Unless Light bitches out and puts his name in the death note or something. lol

I really like how the series ended. It felt realistic (as in not fake like it could only happen in an anime fake) and I like how it closes with scenes in the future, as Kallen tells Lelouch about how the world has changed, almost as if she understands him.

Kallen did finally get to understand what he did and why he did it. There is this absolutely heartbreaking poem that was written from Kallen's point of view. It was published alogn with poems from other characters ina book in Japan.
It's mostly about her feelings toward Lelouch.

At Animazement, an anime convention I got to every year, we got back to the hotel room Saturday night and Adult Swim was on its second revolution and this episode came on. 'Sims' was my first thought and I busted out laughing. My fellow cosplayers were so confused. xD

I know it's such a tragic scene. I always saw this scene as that Lelouch wants to see her one last time before he goes to his death. It's the only thing that I can use to explain why he asked to be alone with her, yet he wont say anything to her until she's just far enough away for him to say farewell without her hearing it. It's as if he can't tell her the truth, but he also can't lie to her.
They did get the most romantic kiss scene of the series though. All the others always had a scene change right after the kiss. This one stayed in the moment.
