I wanted to test out some coloring techniques I've been itching to try before I apply them to over projects. So, I decided to test them out by coloring this picture I originally drew as the birthday gift to a friend. As a fan of the MASS EFFECT series, I drew her as Commander Shepard, and she has an adorable, tripod dog named Jonah. I thought he'd make a nice sidekick.The effects that I wanted to test seemed perfect for this particular drawing. It's the glowing effect on the stars, and the lens flare at the bottom. Some eagle-eyed people might be able to spot the Easter egg I put in for the structure along the horizon. It's nothing from the game. It's from an anime series that was pretty big last year.
I also wonder if it really counts as a Easter egg in the strictest sense. Seeing how I pointed it out. Oh. well.

Admin2 of my page will probably like this because this Shep just looks that little bit renegade! I love all the little details you've put into this. The fact that the stars aren't all identical... The swirl of dust or gas in the atmosphere, the lens flare, the multiple layers of shading colours gone onto her armour and the rock. The strange green light that you've also detailed on her face and armour etc. Still looks simple like expected for a cartoon style piece, but you've hidden a remarkable amount of detail in it.

[glances at Honnouji] Heh not exactly the aliens Shepard is used to dealing with, will she go all stripperific soon? If you think about it she'd make a great big sister or mother figure for Ryuuko.
All in all I love the design, the armour is super nicely done, same for the gun you put some really sweet detail into it. And I absolutely love that cocky smile on Shepard. She is really not someone you'd want to mess with.
The puppy is really cute, brave little guy who'll go on missions despite his disability.

well I can make out the character, details of the armor,Β and most of the background, so I think it looks ok in my opinion at last.

Oh I see...
Well unless I zoom in he looks black for the most part except he has a patch of brown on his leg, but when not zoomed in the black fur stands out more.
