These flowers are caught in a net, but some of them have found their way to freedom.
I tried to make this fractal resemble a painting on canvas.
"Yearning For Freedom" was made in Apophysis 7x.15.
I used one of Bunny Clarke's beautiful Flowering Offerings Scripts .

You've featured my fractal? Thank you! What a glorious surprise!
The link in the comment doesn't work, though. I'd love to see what you've done!

I've never been able to get anything to look good on white.

You will. Keep trying! If you think I might be able to help you out a bit, please ask me. I usually end up increasing the saturation and contrast a lot using a photo editor when I've made a fractal on a white background.
Imagine using a yellow background! It's even more tricky. I saw an "Apo yellow background challenge" here on dA not too long ago. It was amazing what people had managed to do.
Thank you very much for the fave, Rose! It's much appreciated, my friend!

Do you ever use the saturation feature in the gradient editor or does that not give you the results you want?

fractal1 In reply to Rose47 [2012-05-05 21:36:22 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I use it quite often, Rose. I generally go up about 4-6 notches when I use it. Do you find that it makes the colours look darker? That might actually be good if you're using a white background. On a black background, I find the colours can get too dark. So I do a little bit in the gradient editor and, after rendering, I make the final adjustments in a photo editor, where I can adjust the brightness as well as saturation. How do you do this kind of thing?

I use both. I find though that I can keep more of the detail when I use the photo enhancer. Because of convenience I try the Apo gradient editor first.

Yes. I will fiddle around with light backgrounds and see if I can create something I can stand to look at.

I thought of violets too! The petals aren't exactly like those of real violets, but they're fractal violets, so that's okay, isn't it?

I'm glad that it does. That's the look I was aiming for. I downloaded a graphics editor a few days ago that actually has a "canvas" effect which you can add to pictures, but this was done without it. I'm very glad that you're looking at my art this evening! Thank you, Pablo!
