Description
"They say that the love among those people is the most pure, because it is unaffected by the deception of the eyes."edit: did some shading correction to address some proportional issues with his mouth.
These two are the OC's I've created for myself within my closed Species, Ambrusan. They are from the sub-race called Lumetos. Their names are Noctem (black hair) and Aelanra (Lavender hair).
The Lumetos are often referred to as the blind lunar folk, because once they merge with their symbionts, they lose their eyesight, and then can only "see" using the infrared sensitivity located on the bloom of their symbiont. They are nocturnal and are thought to be extremely spiritual. Most wear fabric over their eyes to shield outsiders from seeing their unusual pale sightless gazes and luminescent pupils. because of this racial disability, their other senses are enhanced.
Noctem is a rare Lumetos. once in a generation a child will be born during a lunar eclipse, and this child is born with dark hair, and is chosen to lead their people as an adult. Aelanra is his childhood friend and his mate. She was born during a full amethyst moon (an event unique to their planet) and is gifted with the ability to see the aura around people despite their race's characteristic blindness.Β
Art created using copic markers, white charcoal, white jellyroll and woodless colored pencil

Thank you so much for your lovely critique. I do agree with you on the mouth, it was something that looked proportional in the sketch but somehow looked different once the whole thing was complete. (this happens on occasion. Also, sometimes IΒ spend a great deal of time on details and then forget to look at the image as a whole, resulting in little oddities like this.)Β I think the issue ended up being more to do with shading, I should have curved the expanse of skin under the nose using a shadow so that the upper lip appears to protrude as it should, which I have now fixed, thanks to knowing that it wasn't just me seeing this issue.
Yes, they are rabbit-like ears. I should have included a link to the lore on this species (its still in the works but the basics are there.) Short version: Ambrusans areΒ an alien species from a planet in the arm of the Andromeda galaxy, this speciesΒ consists of five races with various traits, but the long ears are standard (though they may flop, stand straight, or bend). The Species is host to a symbiotic plant life form that attaches itself to their spine, and once it reaches maturity, three vines portude from the coccyx region of the host, and on each vine is one bloom, the symbiont types are different for each race, but this one has infrared capabilities to make up for the blindness that the merging causes in the Lumetos.
Just to answer your unasked question...The clothing is a combination of old Asian influences from Miyazaki and games(I play a lot of OtomeΒ romance games...*facepalm* the clothing and art is beautiful) and fantasy influences like The Lord of The Rings. I sort of piece together elements of these things that I like to create something new. These types of clothes suit this race. The clothing varies greatly between the races. Sorry for the long-windedness, I'm very excited about this species. lol.
side note: I swear I'm still trying with L-fire...I know it's late...I think I need to approach it from a different angle...

No problem for the critique! You did request on here, so I obliged. It seems as though people are asking me for more critiques.... O.O..... Kinda makes me nervous, but if it helps my notoriety, I'll do it!
Myazaki?! I LOVE THAT MAN'S MOVIES! I first got hooked to him and Studio Ghibli when my mom introduced me and my sister to My Neighbor Totoro. It was so cute! Then, I have also seen Spirited Away (FAVORITE!), Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Moving Castle (LOVE Calcifer!), Ponyo, and Graveyard of the Fireflies (oh, too damn sad.... never watching it again 3). I may have seen another one or two of his things, but yeah.... you get the idea. I LOVE HIM!
And.... psssst.... you play otomes too? >.>....<.<.... I'm focusing my energy on one right now, but I have three on my phone. You didn't hear it from me. Would the name Takamasa have happened to be familiar to you by any chance? >.>.....<.<.....
Oh, and do keep working at L-fire! Nothing wrong with being late. Screw the deadline! <3

I am seriously turning my son into the most spectacularly epicΒ nerdling of all time, at the age of three (next month) he is already into star trek and anime. He pretty much watchesΒ Howl's moving castle on a loop. The second its over he asks for it again. If not Howl he wants Arrietty or Spirited away. A friend got me into Miyazaki in high school. I love Spirited Away.
Thank goodness I'm not the only one ^-^ Most of the Otomes I play are by Shall we Date. My Favorite is Never Look Back followed by Scarlet Fate, Ninja Love and My Sweet Prince. Terrible titles to be honest, But They're all pretty good. I really love the art, particularly the strong Japanese style influences for the costuming. I might have mentioned but I was born in Japan but haven't been back since I was a baby, so anything to do with the culture is a big thing to me, lol. I even speak a little, but I can't read Kanji..
I'll keep plugging away at it, I think I might end up taking a more symbolic approach. Trying to draw a scene isn't working out for some reason, I've scrapped it every time...I think maybe It looks too much like domestic abuse... I'll figure it out...

GOOD WORK ON YOUR SON! <3
The world needs more nerdlings!!.... even if it won't be getting any from me. Oh! I used to be more into Star Trek before! I am more of a fan of TNG than any of the other sagas of it. The rest of them just don't measure up, even if Captain Obvious (Counselor Troy), Wesley Crusher, and Commander Riker get on my nerves. Lieutenant Commander Data and Captain Jean Luc Picard totally make up for it! I love *Sir* Patrick Stewart! I have NOT seen Arrietty though, but I have wanted to see it..... Le sigh....
Hmmmm..... I can get into Shall We Date, but I always end up cutting myself short on those. Right now, I only have Demon or Angel by them. Yes, it includes the Reapers. I love the reapers! Much more interesting characters, but the story for each comes to the same catastrophe of the MC's love interest facing potential annihilation. I've mainly gotten into the completely free ones by Voltage. My Forged Wedding and By My Princess to be exact. I'm HOOKED on My Forged Wedding though. Oh, and another Shall We Date one that I played was Niflheim! I LOVED it at first when I chose JJ, but the rest of them were nowhere close to measuring up.... Me and JJ just clicked, I guess.... Such a sad day in the neighborhood when you intuitionally already know your soul mate character. :/
Huh.... Born in Japan, eh?..... NICE, even if you have no real language or reading ability of the culture. Something about it still feels badass. Kudos!
Oh, I know what you're looking at. Truth hurts: but it is going to look like domestic abuse either way. No way to tone down the action, BUT an idea.... focus on L's facial expression. Make some serious sadness in it, some regret, some wish that he didn't feel the way he did. I think that might actually make a difference if you can pull it off, which you can. You're talented! <3

Ah, I'm a TSS gal, SPOCK All the way!!! Loved Nimoy. Though Quinto makes a really hot Spock....mmmm....I actually went to the Las Vegas convention so that I could Meet Nimoy on his last convention Circuit. Best time ever!!! I met some really awesome people and Had one of the ST: Online developers approach me because I had made my own costume based on one of the uniforms in the game. He had to have a picture to take back to the office ^-^
Oh, yes, Niflheim was good too! I got stuck at a checkpoint tho >.<
LMAO badass to be born in Japan, huh?
Hmm, I'll see what I can come up with. They just weren't ending up the way I wanted. But I thought of something else maybe... hmmm....and thank you for calling me talented Darling! I need to go read your latest installments! I didn't have any time last night! jeez, I'm like a junkie for your fics.....

I do happen to love Spock too! I work for ThinkGeek, so I see that stuff all the time! And the weekend after Nimoy left this world behind.... Star Trek was about the only thing flying out the door on Monday and Tuesday, and even a bit of Wednesday. Yep, you read that right. I work for ThinkGeek. Oh, you had a good enough costume for that, huh? Wow... I wish I could go to those conventions, but it's totally not happening... *sniff sniff*
Niflheim was good. I got stuck at checkpoints too, but I knew how to truck through them in a few days' time. Persistence is my thing.
Oh, you KNOW you are talented. I was just stating the obvious.
You should! After all.... I am shaping things up for season two in the most recent Married Life episodes. >:-D
I also very much appreciate your fanship/friendship! Just wait until I get to writing that second season! It's ALL ME....

Think geek, eh? I've shopped there a few times online ^_^. You neeeed to go to a convention once in your life (the official circuit runs thru your state) it was definitely a worthwhile experience.
cant waaiiiiiiiiit!

Hmmmm.... My beef with going to a convention though is the traffic! Sure, I live in the city, but I avoid bad traffic as best as I can. If I'm going to a festival or anything like that, someone else needs to drive. I lack the patience. But I am looking for an L cosplayer though...... >.>.....<.<.....

An L cosplayer? For an event? Cosplayer a are so much fun, especially when they really get into the character! I did filming at a comicon and there were some really fantastic cosplayers

I'd want to have a photo shoot with an L cosplayer. I don't know how I would manage it, but trust me, I would love it. I would even pay the cosplayer just to hang out in such fashion.... Nope, I'm not crazy..... >.>.....<.<.....

^_^ I do. My mother is a great woman.
sorry to hear about yours, that's early to lose your mom.
well, you're relatively new to DA. So sometimes getting this sort of stuff going is a bit tough. It takes a lot of plugging. I know that it took quite a while for me to be noticed at all. And I still have what is considered a low number of watchers. And I'm involved in a crapton of groups. But things are picking up. it'll be the same for you. I'd help you out on the cosplay thing, it's an easy cosplay and I'm ultra pale with short dark hair, but...yeah, I'm a pudgy shorty....not so suited to cosplaying L. Lmao.

LawlietLady In reply to FracturedFable [2015-06-10 23:13:24 +0000 UTC]
I'll save you the sob story, but I was 6 at the time, and my sister was 8. Luckily our Uncle Gary was there to help Dad a lot over the years.
I plug a bit, but I suppose that isn't enough. My writing is what I want to get noticed. I keep doing what I do from day to day that I forget to post in groups! Ugh.... -.- I used to do more conquest than I have in the past couple months. I've gotten lazy on it, trying to push out as much material as I can. Today, I'm honestly too exhausted to do anything. 3
You'd help me with the cosplay? >.>.....<.<.... That means you would have to be in my proximity to make it happen.... I mean, if you were, I'd be up for meeting up, cosplay or no cosplay. I do love me a good sit-down at a local tea salon, but it's been a while. Trying to cutting back on eating out kills... but I have gained a couple pounds that I would like to lose. I was 184 pounds when I graduated college. I whittled myself down to 142 in about seven months, and that was back around 2013.... I've maintained that weight until here recently, a little over 150... Can Β I just say that my weight is one hundred and sexy?
π: 0 β©: 1
FracturedFable In reply to LawlietLady [2015-06-10 23:25:32 +0000 UTC]
we're in neighboring states... I'll let you guess which one. But not exactly close enough to meet for tea. Lol. We simply share a lot of the same convention circuits. ^_^ I love cosplaying...and I've done male cosplay before. Just not much opportunity for it (I'm actually considering doing a genderbent hiccup tho if I get to film a convention this year) I also I totally dressed my son up in kristoff cosplay. My epic nerdling. He was thrilled to death when kristoff from disney on ice noticed him and waved, lmao. The skater was pretty thrilled too, given the ocean of mini Anna and Elsa's in the audience. Yeah weight is an issue for me. Always has been. During college I managed to diet really hard and get to a size 1. But after having a kid...yep....that's that...that won't ever happen again. Lol

Well, it's good to at least know you're in the same time zone. I'll be content, but should your filming ventures bring you to OH, hit me up! Nope, I'm not being forward. I just think we get along well. Meeting someone from here would be pretty cool.
Such an epic nerdling! Kind of a touching story.... I have not seen Frozen, but I still know who the characters are.
We're women. Weight will always be an issue. I don't think my bone structure would let me get down to a size 1. The lowest I have ever gone down to is a size 6, and Β I am barely maintaining it as is. I am large-chested and have wide hips naturally. There's just no way, but hey, real women have curves. X3

haha, I think you'd have to be a hermit not to know the characters. They're only everywhere. Lol. It was a very good movie though. Just the merchandising is out of control.
yes, curves indeed, those I have. Lol. I liked your 100 and sexy comment btw, forgot to mention that.

Yeah..... the merchandising is ridiculous! MONTHS after the movie and every little girl was Trick or Treating as Elsa.... Oi.... A friend of mine made a drinking game out of it... I never heard the results, but he probably doesn't remember.
LOL! Glad you loved the comment! I forgot where I found it, but I saw it on a meme somewhere.... and I shall use it when asked a particular question that no sensible man dare ask.

The color choices here are amazing and love how you were able to blend all of the highlights so nicely. Another thing, I am glad you put some kind of background in. That really completes the picture. I am so frustrated by great character that is on a stark white background. It just feels unfinished when someone does that.

The background doesn't have to be fancy. You've got the moon back there and that tells me that the characters have a connection to the moon. There's a story there. If the background were white, I just kind of have to look at your description and take your word for it.
