Description
One of the drawings I'm thinking of putting in my portfolio. I'm proud of it, and I worked on this for about 9 hours, longer than I usually spend on ANYTHING.Related content

It's so pretty! It looks like it belongs in a classy illustrated flower book.

Very nice. Really great use of color. Subtle but makes an impact.

funny.... thistle... my friend walked past one before... she had never seen one.... and she thought it would be fun to squeeze it because it looked squishy I guess... I thought it was pretty funny... but it lost its humour a few hours later when she was still complaining..... very nice drawing though. A lot of patience.... Ive never worked that long on any of mine....

Thank you! I would never think to squeeze one, but we did make animals out of them in girl scouts once!

Audrey II! No, this is definitely a thistle. As for the medium, I'm guessing a combonation of watercolor and colored pencil.
This is very nice: it's easy to appreciate the amount of work that went into it, especially all the shadows of the thistles. The only problem I see is that there's a little white space on the sides that you could crop out. It looks like it got in from your scanner, or maybe it was something larger on the original piece that the scanner cropped wierdly.

Actaully that bit of space is from when I took a picture of it hanging on the wall, that's where it had curled. I'll have to fix that. It's actually too big for any scanner of mine, it's about 26x38 or something like that.

I thought it seemed a little curly. I couldn't figure out how it had gotten that way.

um I can't name the plant, but I can say that I really like the way you've done it. Nice combination of colours and the shading on the plant gives a nice contrast and a feeling of balance for the picture, because you get a definite compositional focus. Truly worth the time you spent on it !
I only have 1 question: what media is this?

Thank you for your nice comments and in answer to your question I used Conte, Pastel, brown and black ink and probably a bit of gesso.
