haha really, all you have to do in buffalo to find a place is drive around for 5 minutes. especially in that neighborhood. there was something across the street being demolished, boooo on demolitions. they ruin everything! oddly i have driven by the place before and never thought it was 1. abandoned or 2. of any interest. i guess the temple sign on the front of the building made me think it was still in use. a friend mentioned it a few weeks ago, and another friend called me from inside last weekend to tell me you just have to walk in the front door haha. one of the easiest entries ever!

lets hear it for the rust belt!...

parts of ohio are like that, too... built out in the early 1900's... and outdated and mothballed beginning in the 70's...

yes god keep the rust belt. being a preservationist i get torn between saving things and leaving things how they are and demolitions. i believe that not everything is worth saving...yet...rearden steel...come on, it's never going to be used again, it really shouldn't just sit there yet it's so pretty the way it is hahaha. and the same with the terminal. there is something about the decayed state its in now that i love, and it would be so so so so wonderful to have $60 million to restore it, but i'd miss the decay...

hhhmmm... i'm curious... what is it about the decay that you love?... i mean, is it seeing normal things in new states?... the random changes?...

i dont know really. people think i'm weird because i do this, but they'd think nothing of going to the Parthenon or the Coliseum, Stonehenge etc...and essentially it's the same thing.

Maybe it is the fact that "normal" things are boring, and seeing them in a decayed state is new, and different than what everyone is used to. i really don't do this for the adrenalin of tresspassing and possibly getting caught (like some people) or for the rush...i really think it's special to go places that most people wouldnt and be able to show them that sometimes it's worth giving things a 2nd look.

fair point... the parthenon, et al are a little different... they represent a high point of their respective cultures... but i understand your argument...

(nodding)... i know what you mean about seeing these 'normal' places in a new way... that is a great reason for doing what you do... and laudable...

thanks for the reply... i was curious...
