it's in a state of sort of demo. i know they've done alot, it used to be a MASSIVE complex, mile after mile along the lake - not so anymore. but it's hard to tell if they've done any recently, and how fast they're doing it. i don't know what a coke oven battery looks like, send me a pic and i'll let you know

when i come to uk will you show me around?

Coke oven batterys are the lines of ovens where the coal was burned into coke, typically they look a little like this: [link] (warning crappy photo) Coal is stored in the Silo and loaded onto larry cars below which load new coal into the ovens. Typically the silo is in the center with a battery of ovens running off either side: [link] .

I was mosly curious to know how much was left as coke works can be great places to explore and photograph.

Whan are you visiting? what part of the country? I take it your interested in abandoned / industrial / historic places? if thats the case I'd be happy to show you around some of our less famous monuments, Providing i'm not too busy with work.

hmm your links took me to pages that said i couldn't access the images...

[link] is what i thought was the coke ovens. and that's about all that's left of things that look like that. maybe i'm WAY off on what those things really are. maybe those were silos?

i have no travel plans as of yet, i'm looking at next year some time as i used all my vacation time from work already hahah. abandonments and industrial sites, historical sites, its all wonderful. i've been to london twice, but not really anywhere else in the UK. i forget what suburbs of london my friends lived in.
